They came out as scheduled and measured the location for the fencing. Several days later I received an email with the estimate. It was for 6 foot white vinyl privacy fencing-- not what I asked for. I called/emailed back for the correct estimate. They sent the estimate for the chain link with an added comment that for payment with anything form other than cash will cost $250 more (over the $2500 price for cash). I called and spoke with Adam who stated this is to make up for "other customers who haven't paid me..." Also reporting that he is in "litigation with 13-15 non-payers" and he only wants cold-hard cash. There is also a financing option. I would have to give him 12 monthly post-dated checks to pay for the installation and this would guarantee payment with no add'l charge.
On a side note, his office worker looked me up on LinkedIn professional social media website, apparently to find out if I would be another non-payer. Why would an owner tell a prospective customer they are in litigation? I can only assume they have an inferior product and others have had only legal recourse...
"Clearly we have a misunderstanding. Every company is structured differently and all I was trying to do was explain to you how our's is structured. We are structured to propose the lowest price possible without sacrificing quality, workmanship or minimum profit needed to operate. Some businesses will propose a price to you that covers any addition costs incurred such as credit card processing. We are not structured this way in our price proposal. For example we propose a cash price to you that pays for the materials, labor and company profit and at the end of the install you hand us an american express card that we have to absorb the 5% credit card processing fee ( $250.00 for a job of $5.000.00 ) and this is why on all contracts we clearly state the price for your proposal for either method of payment that you select. We offer an interest free in house financing option with no credit check required and ask that the monthly payments be in the form of post dated checks to insure us that we have the payment when it is due ( for we have learned the hard way that not everybody keeps their word ) We are honestly tired of placing liens on houses and going to court wasting our time in a court room begging for the money that is clearly owed when we would rather be installing fences as we are designed to do. This option is designed to help you out as a customer to be able to obtain the fence and also keeps us in mind that we will not loose needed profit and wages and is clearly a choice for you the customer to make. we are very fair and this is a great option, you will see all competitors will charge you a high financing rate for doing so and will put you through a tiresome credit application.... We will do neither. This structure is similar to gas stations.... you will find stations that advertise a gas price per gallon and state this is the cash price, if you go inside and pay by credit card you will notice that you were not charged the same as the advertised price because you did not pay by cash and now the station will charge you for the credit card processing fee that they will now be charged ( the choice was up to you as to your method of payment ) I do apologize for the mistake of quoting you for the wrong fence and then correcting it and sending you the proper quote. Clearly you misunderstood me telling you we are charging you more money to make up for customers that have not paid ( im sure even if that were true no business would tell you that ) what I did say is that the posted dated checks are to insure we as a business will have no loss. I am sorry that we are not able to absorb the cost of you using a credit card but we are structured to propose the lowest price to you without it costing the business money. The court cases we have are against a few customers that have not paid their bill as agreed to in the contract before we mandated post dated payments and not people taking us to court for the record. We install all of our fences for no deposits or needed money down with in house interest free financing options available and offer only made in U.S.A materials..... it gets no better, do your research and you will see that Metro Fences is the better choice. "I will explain the best that i can. You sir were told not to take the settlement from yellawood because it included no money for us to remove and re install this bad batch of wood. We were in the process of working this out with yellawood when you decided to take the settlement. I just wish that you would have waited for this to be finalized and need you to know that we could have had this situation handled would you had just waited a little longer for them to include us in the settlement. As much as i would like to just come and work for the day for free we are unable to do this. i hope that the settlement that you jumped on will help to pay for the new fence at your new house. When i called you after you posted this review and told me that you no longer live there and not to worry about it and hung up on me i was trying to tell you that i again am sorry that you received a bad batch of wood and that if you have a new fence project i have worked it out with yellawood to state in there contract that any future issues with bad materials from them they will include the labor and it is now in our contract with them and i am willing to help you in any way that i can. Please contact me if there is anything that we can do for you for i would like to make you whole in some kind of way."
"This is hard to explain but i will try my best...When you select a wood fence we only install a heavy duty version that is built on site piece by piece and the county rules are that the neighbor must have the finished side and that the rails be facing in towards you. This is unfortunately the only way that we can build this fence in this situation and the only other choice is to use cheap prefabricated panels ( that we refuse to use ) because they can be slid in between the posts and screwed as a whole section as opposed to us having to have a foot of working space to be able to build the fence piece by piece to be able to obtain the heavy duty version. Is there anything that we can do to help such as remove the neighbors fence for free so that there is access to this area ? I am sorry and this really kills the vibe of a good install and i wish the county would change this rule"
Adam was quick to respond my initial call. Other companies, including ones on Angie's List, didn't even have the courtesy to call me back. I guess the job wasn't big enough for them. Adam arrived at scheduled time, and we discussed what I wanted, making a few changes as per code for a swimming pool. His crew worked quickly, was courteous to my few questions and did a beautiful job. The gates are perfect! I am very pleased. Nice to see a company that does what it says it will do.
