ACJ Heating & Air Conditioning

About us

The history of ACJ Heating & Air Conditioning began long before its doors officially opened in March 2002. The owner's first company was sold after eighteen years of continual growth. The company had more than eighty employees and more than fifty prestigious new home builders. After five years in retirement, and encouragement from their sons, they opened ACJ’s with the belief that our customers deserve a “Quality” product when the job is completed. Our motto, “Quality ….Something To Be Proud Of” resonates through-out the company, from the office personnel to the field personnel. From the service we provide to the equipment we install, Quality can be found through-out. ACJ Heating & Air Conditioning is recognized throughout the HVAC industry as an innovative leader. We are a state certified HVAC contractor installing and servicing both residential and light commercial heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Our computerized service records, radio dispatched trucks and certified technicians can meet your needs professionally. Regardless of your needs, ACJ’s can assist you through all phases of the job at hand. Our mission is to offer our customers exemplary service built on a foundation of honesty and high ethical standards. Every job is done with pride and our name and reputation goes on every job. We’ve built our reputation through quality installations and by standing behind every job.

Chris, the owner of ACJ was very callous and his business ethics when working with cash paying clients was shameful. He spent 45 minutes on the phone with me swearing at me, calling my requests for written estimates and confirmations BS, and blamed me for the two times he had to send his techs home on service dates that were not confirmed by anyone in my family. He stated his word is his bond and he works with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of AC jobs over the phone and didnt understand why I needed some official government document, being sarcastic, to begin the work at my parents home. He continued to talk about his net worth and how my asking about any available discounts or estimates in writing was outrageous. My mother had just gotten out of the hospital from over a 6 day stay with severe health problems stroke and dehydration possibly contributed to a lack of central ac in their home so this job was very personal to me. I handled most of the legwork as my father was over the road for work and requested copies of everything before work even began. At the end of the conversation he had me in tears after repeatedly swearing, insulting my intelligence, and blaming me for he and his staffs lack of professionalism when handling this job. My father called him immediately afterwards at which point he stated he would apologize for taking out his frustrations on me. This never happened. I have never in my life dealt with a business professional with such little integrity to treat his clients with such disrespect and not hold his own staff or first and foremost HIMSELF accountable for the miscommunications or the missed appointment initially, as well as the two appointments to begin work that were never confirmed. We ended up choosing another AC company who actually came out and tested the unit, which ACJ never did, and found that the fix cost under $400, instead of almost $4000. They then stated they would install 16 floor vents and duct work for $2900 as opposed to the $3700 quoted by ACJ. We finally found a company with professionalism and extensive experience working with mobile homes with an excellent reputation. Based on the botched service call where they missed even assessing the ac unit itself for damages, the service dates that were automatically set up for us without our knowledge, the difficult time obtaining information in writing as to estimates and repair work needed, and the downright shameful and unethical treatment by the so called owner, Chris, I would be hesitant to recommend this company to anyone I cared for who was looking for honest and reliable service work from a professional company. They will not find it here. I have never written a negative review for any company, but after the terrible experience my family had with this company I had to share this in hopes that someone else doesn't experience the same difficulties we went through. This man cares about his bottom line, and very little for the treatment of his actual clients, and we would be very wary of completing any large AC jobs with such an unethical businessman.

When I came home from work after 5:00 PM on 6/26/12, I could tell my a/c wasn't cooling. A friend at work had just told me about a company they used and highly recommended - ACJ Heating and Air Conditioning. I called the number she gave me and John V. answered right away. He was at my house within half an hour and set about trying to breathe life into my poor, old unit. T.S. Debby was blowing around that day, so her gusts of wind and showers didn't make his job all that easy. He persevered, but after trying for more than an hour, he was forced to pronounce the unit dead as a hammer and unresponsive. I wasn't surprised because I'd been expecting this day to come anytime within the past decade due to its age. It was the original unit we installed when we built the house in 1989. He offered to give me a proposal for a new system and said they could install the next day if I wished! And I did wish! After consulting with his office, he gave what I felt was a very fair proposal plus a 10-year parts/labor warranty (known as the "smile and sign" deal - no money paid, just smile and sign). I was very relieved at the price of the new system, and John V. didn't charge me anything for the visit that evening, which I didn't expect and truly appreciated. He called around 8:00 AM the next morning to let me know they were on the way. They went right to work and kept at it the entire day, finally finishing up around 4:00 PM. They had to pull my old heat pump out of the dirt where it had sank, then installed a nice, thick concrete slab and set the new one on (same size as my old one), went up into the attic and literally had to take the air handler apart and haul it out (the cat loved all the noises coming from the ceiling), installed a new air handler with some upgraded features, re-sealed all my ductwork to bring it up to code, flushed the copper linesets and PVC drain at the air handler, and put in a new thermostat. John V. stopped by that Sunday (7/1/12) and placed the permit on the front of my house. He asked if everything was OK and I told him it was. Unfortunately, on Tuesday morning (7/3/12), as I was headed out the door to work, a glance at the thermostat showed the house was heating up. I called ACJ and they were there within 15 minutes (John V. again). After checking everything, the conclusion was a faulty blower control board, which he replaced as well as the evaporator coil. Of course, it was a "smile and sign" invoice and John let me know that he was on call the next day (7/4) and to feel free to call him if anything else went haywire. I had a ton of friends and family over for Independence Day and we were all very comfortable! The system has been working perfectly and I've even noticed a drop in my electric bill since the installation!

I SHOWED HIM THE ELECTRIC BILL AND HE CHECKED OUT THE SYSTEM. I HAD THE TEMPERATURE UP TOO HIGH AND HE ADJUSTED SOMETHING IN THE UNIT. ELECTRIC BILL CAME DOWN $20.
