They were amazing. They were here on time and started working right away. Friendly ... no arguing just friendly workers. My new roof looks awesome. They did a wonderful job in no time at all. I would recommend this company to everyone. They will work with you to get what you want at a price that's not over the top. I hope everyone will consider 1st Choice Roffing for all your roofing needs. You won't regret it.

In July of 2019 we had a full roof replacement done by 1st Choice Roofing on our flat roof . About 6 months later we called and requested someone come out and examine the roof because of large amounts of water ponding on the roof. A 1st Choice Roofing tech came out and assured us the roof was totally fine and nothing to be concerned about. We called about this complaint well within our warranty period and 1st Choice has record of us calling and them coming out. We recently accepted an offer to sell out home. A home inspector failed the roof that was replaced by 1st Choice. Per the inspector the roof shows severe deterioration caused by water ponding. We had a 3rd party licensed roofing company in Pasco county come out and give an opinion. They agreed completely that this roof is beyond repair and needs a full replacement. They also agreed the damage was caused by the ponding of water . Both inspector and other roofer agreed this roof was never sloped properly and it is not level. We called 1st Choice on 3/31 and spoke to Courtney. She scheduled an appointment for someone to come out on Wednesday 4/5. I said great but I need a call back from an owner/supervisor. This roof is stopping the sale of my home and I have 2 professional opinions that this roof was poorly done . I stressed I need this matter resolved quickly because the sale of my home in pending on this roof . I did not receive a call back on 3/31. I called again 4/3 and asked for a call back and did not receive a call. I called again on 4/4 and did not receive a call back from an owner or supervision. On 4/5 a tech named Ryan came out to inspect. He stated he had several concerns and would pass the info on to Tom and we would get a call back that day. We did not receive a call. Today is 4/6 and I have called several times and left several messages and have yet to speak to anyone in charge concerning the poor quality of this roof replacement and how 1st Choice plans to fix this situation. We paid $3900 for a new flat roof in 2019 . It looks like we will be paying for a brand new again in 2023 because 1st Choice has yet to offer us a solution on the poor quality work that was done in 2019. I cannot stress enough to find yourself a different roofing company. Attached are photos showing damage from ponding and inspectors report.

1.       After an informative discussion with the 1st choice roofing owner, I had chosen vinyl gutters for my home improvement and draining away of water. Installation of this type of gutter was carried out with a great ease and quite fast. I am grateful to their representatives who delivered me such a great services. Thanks a lot.

After reviewing and interviewing several roofing companies, 1st choice and Ken were the only company that gave explicit information on my options and the different materials etc. They quoted me a very fair price, they were timely and efficient on putting on my new roof, Their crew was friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job cleaning up their work and went above and beyond to clean other areas I had that needed it as well. I love their warranty and I would highly recommend them!

I hired 1st Choice Roofing after getting bids from 5 different companies. Their quote and timeline worked out best for me so I choose them. They did everything that they promised to do and were very professional. They showed up on time, completed the work on time and they kept they yard cleaned up. The roof looks great! Ken, Carl, Vinny and the rest of the crew were all great to work with. Tom in the office was also very responsive and helpful. Overall, we were very happy with the work. I would definately hire them again.

Original installation went well. After four years, corners had to be redone. Now at 10 years the eaves are rotting.

These guys worked harder than anyone I know! Prompt and worked non-stop. Double shingles held them back from completing the job in 2 days, for which they were soooo apologetic that they had to come back for a couple hours on the 3rd day. Cleaned up so good you never knew they were here. I would HIGHLY recommend this company!

The first day they said they fixed it it rain 3 days later and still poured in so I called they came out again said it was fixed and it rained again still pouring through I called and ask for owner to come look and ask d why I got a patch job and not a repair also showed him they used less then 30 dollars in material and was only there 25 mins each time they said replace shingles. They put 3 pieces of shingles not 3 sheets just broke off 3 shingles and tucked them under. A new guy came out saw the wood was bad so he cut some pieces to fix put some flashing on and used Anout 4 or 5 sheets of shingles so far it seems to be holding but dealing with an owner that tried to blame me for their poor work really ****** me off I would never recommend them so unprofessional

1St Choice was installing a roof on a neighbor?s house
so I stopped and chatted with him about his shopping for a contractor, the
price, and how the job was going.  He seemed to be satisfied with the
job and told me the price.  He has the exact same house as ours.  I
contacted Ken by phone and he told me he would do our roof for the same
price.  In talking with Ken I was explicit that if I hired them to do
the job they could not start on a Tuesday as I have a part time job, working
on Tuesdays only, and I wanted to be there especially for the start of the
job.  He told me that would not be a problem.  Ken?s partner, Carl,
was in the neighborhood the next day at my neighbor?s jobsite and I signed
a contract with him.  Again, I made my preference regarding
Tuesdays completely clear to Carl.
It took a couple of weeks to get the approval of the
home owner?s association and then I called Ken and told him we had all of
the paperwork in order.  Again, I reminded Ken that a Tuesday
start date would be problematic.  Again he assured me that he would
not schedule the job for a Tuesday.  In fact he scheduled it to
start on the following Thursday.
Unfortunately it rained on the scheduled Thursday and Carl
called to tell me that they would have to start the following  week,
on Tuesday.  I reminded Carl that I had told both he and Ken, on
multiple occasions, that a Tuesday start date would be problematic.
Carl seemed to get a little huffy with me and said that he had already
scheduled the crew to be on site the following Tuesday.  He added that if
I insisted on changing the start day he would have to re-schedule my job,
perhaps as much as two months into the future.  I felt that he was
basically bullying me into agreeing to his schedule.  Being desirous of
getting the job done before the spring rainy season kicked off I
reluctantly agreed to have them start on Tuesday and lost a day?s work.
On Tuesday the work crew, three men, showed up promptly and
went right to work.  Those men worked like drone bees, only stopping
for brief breaks and lunch.  They were extremely professional
and knowledgeable in their jobs.  During their lunch break I was
chatting with the foreman or lead worker who told me that he was a sub-contractor
for 1St Choice, not an employee and that the other two men worked for
him.
They finished the job by mid afternoon on Wednesday and did
an excellent job.  I attempted to give the sub-contractor the
check but he told me that he had nothing to do with accepting payment and
that he would notify Ken or Carl that the job was done and the check was
ready.  At no time during the job had Ken or Carl come by the
worksite or contacted me to check on how the job was going.
Later that afternoon (Wednesday) I spoke to Carl
about coming by to get the check.  He said that he was busy and
told me to drive the check to the office in Hudson.  I replied that I was
not inclined to drive all the way to Hudson and reminded him that I had
attempted to pay the sub-contractor.  I asked for an address to
mail the check but Carl was adamant that I not mail it.  He said that he
would come by the next day, Thursday, to pick up the check.  I
asked him what time he planned on coming by and he told me he couldn?t give
me any time estimate.  I explained that I had things to do and
errands to run and might not be home if he came by at just some random
time.  He actually asked why I couldn?t postpone my business and be
at home waiting for him.  Again I offered to mail the check
but declined to cancel my plans to wait for him to decide to come
by.  He agreed to come by the following morning at 8:00 AM.  The
next morning I waited until 9:30 and when he had still not shown up I
called the office and was told that he was not in at that time.  I
was leaving to go about my business when Carl pulled up.  I gave
him the check and told him that the sub-contractor had done an excellent
job.  I mentioned that another neighbor had asked me about the job
and might be calling for a quote.  Carl thanked me for the reference but asked that
I not tell my neighbor the price I paid as he might want to increase
the price.  I felt that was a little bit odd as my neighbor has
the exact same house as mine.
As a matter of routine the jobber who provided the materials for the roof had sent me notice that they would put a lien on my property if not paid by 1st Choice in a timely manner.  After the completion of the job, and my payment, it took me almost three weeks to get a copy of the release of lien from 1st Choice.  I definitely felt that I was getting the run around on that matter as the jobber confirmed that they had been paid and the lien released within a couple of days of the completion of the roof.  Ken had told me that I would have to get the release jobber myself but the jobber said that their release went directly to the contractor and re-iterated that I would have to get a copy from 1st Choice.
All in all I got a good roof at a good price.  The workmen were way
above average, however; I was a little disappointed with the management style
and business model of 1st Choice Roofing.

My husband and I highly recommend Ken Phillips and his business First Choice Roofing. They've provided work for our customers and when we followed up with them, they stated they were very pleased with his work, his desire to do a quality job and cleaned everything up after completion which is hard to find in this industry. They are an honest company, and are about quality service rather than just selling a job. If repairs can be done, Ken will do this where others will try to sell a full roof replacement. They also offer reasonable roof maintenance plans which can help extend the life of any roof plus help prevent a problem that can turn into major issues with leaks, etc. I highly recommend calling Ken for a free roof inspection and to discuss the maintenance plans to help protect your investment.
