My building management company hired e.h. Whitson for fixing a gas leak. They were scheduled to come at 12, didn’t show up until 330 and then were gone before 530. They showed up the next day and said they fixed a gas leak. They came in my unit and turned on the gas and I told them I smell gas now and they shrugged it off and said it’s all fixed. I explained my pet has a breathing issue to please make sure and they assured me I was safe. I didn’t trust them THANK GOD and I was lucky enough to be able to bring my cat to my parents house just in case. 10 hours later I got home from work and the smell of gas was so bad, you could smell it outside the front door. Inside was just terrible, I couldn’t stand inside for more than a few minutes to gather some belongings and get out. You assured me! You put my life and pets life completely at risk! No regard for life what so ever. The next day, a different guy (same company) came back to fix it. I tried to tell him that I was assured the day before so please please make sure and he was very defensive and “couldn’t comment on the guys work yesterday” like um ok I’m trying to just triple check as anyone should because you don’t play with a gas leak! Thanks for being so negligent lives were put in danger. Consider yourselves lucky I didn’t take your word!

Charged $195.00 to replace valve cartridge in faucet handle. Price was not same as quote--they spent under 10 minutes in house. No special faucet -- cheap home depot model. TOTAL CROOKS.

Teco gas finally brought the gas lines from the street to the house. Then they realized that the lines needed to be brought even closer to the house for the appliance installation. A job that was to take 6 months was going on another 6. I decided not to get gas appliances out of frustration with the gas company. I had given Whitson a $600 deposit when they came out in May to give an estimate for the appliance installation. When I called an explained the situation, the man on the phone was so rude and started yelling at me at the top of his lungs. He said that there would be a $200 cancellation fee. I asked him to direct me to that language in the contract. When he couldn't, he hung up. I was later called by a supervisor who told me it would take 60 days to refund my money. I asked why would it take that long, and she said it was an accounting issue. I told her I wrote a check immediately for the deposit and that they were a small enough company that all they had to do was write a check. She refused. I then wrote a demand letter for return of my deposit in five days. I then called Teco since they referred Whitson. Teco told them they had to refund my full deposit or they would be removed from the approved vendor list. I got my money three days later.
I was shocked at the rudeness and unprofessionalism of this company. I would never use them nor recommend them. They say they have been in business a long time. But the heirs are running it and they are running it into the ground.

Overall, the service was good. They forgot to install an overflow detector on the upstairs unit & I had a leak. They were prompt about coming back out to install correctly.

Installation went fine besides needing a revisit to pass code by having the new slab secured to the old one. The real problem came when the compressor went bad. Upon taking the compressor to the local distributer for replacement under warranty, I was informed that it was in fact not a 10 year compressor, but a five year. The cost was $652 to buy another compressor for my unit.
Upon contacting E.H. Whitson and explaining my predicament, I was transferred to John Lipka who did not make any effort to fix the problem and blew it off as a typo on the invoice. In fact, when I told him how much a new compressor would cost, he said to end this he could install the compressor for $652 in labor. I wish i had more time on my hands to have taken this to court; it's unfortunate that missing work to handle untrustworthy business practices is necessary.
I'll never forget the awful service I received. Buyer beware when dealing with this company. I paid for one thing and they installed a lesser model. Unfortunately I didn't know anything about HVAC back then and was completely taken advantage of.
This is an old review, but I'm new to Angie's so wanted to warn other members.

The tech located the problem with compressor quickly. The shroud on top of the compressor is warping from the heat and age. The fan blade was rubbing against the shroud preventing it from turning. The tech tightened all the bolts and screws after properly positioning the shroud freeing up the blades. He also checked for freon leaks, electrical connections etc. Very pleased with their service.

We use Whitson for all of our plumbing, AC, and electrical services. Very professional, always on time, and their repairmen are top notch. We purchased the AC maintenance service agreement, so finally the end of our headaches of having AC issues since it is properly maintained. My sister also uses them and had an issue when the AC repairmen chipped the tile on her exterior steps removing her old unit. The owner personally took care of replacing her tile and paid for the whole front entrance to be repaired. You don't find good companies around like Whitson anymore.

Called in the morning and spoke with a very nive woman over the phone. She offered to me an appointment the same day and even told me that it might be between lunch time, but wasn't sure.
Around 1pm somebody knocked on my door, a very nice man and very polite. He repaired my A/C and provided to me an invoice. Very professional.
I recommand this company at leat for that kind of service I haven't tried the others yet but for sure will call them again.,

As usual, this provider is top notch sending the best people. Removed old AC, ran a 220 line, installed a new 4-ton Carrier AC, explained it all to us clearly. It was a 6+ hour job and through it all they were professional, had a sense of humor, explained everything and left the place cleaner than when they started. The price was what we had expected when we asked for the estimate and there were no hidden costs. In fact, Jason, head guy, was supposed to enlarge the AC return in the dining room, but had a better idea. He put in a second return in the laundry room which gave the same result and eliminated having to cut up the dining room wall more than the original return from 1972. All in all you cannot go wrong with this company. Inside and outside personnel are stellar.
