"In response to your complaint the facts are as follows:- 1) First, J.I.M.S. Electric LLC is a licensed, insured ,Electrical Service Company. To represent ourselves as experts in any other capacity would put us in severe jeopardy of incurring criminal charges, revocation of our license and forefeiture of our insurance coverage. In short, it could terminate the livlihood of 8 employees and is emphatically, not consistent with our religious/moral beliefs and practices! 2) We have done 2 jobs for the members. The first, on 9/7/2012, was at their condominium. They were completely satisfied and paid us promtly. 3) The second job was arranged via phone call to our office on 10/8/2012. The member arranged with Jim , to have the electrical requirements for a garbage disposal unit installed at their house. This job was done on 10/9/2012. On 11/1/2012, we were called regarding a problem that had arisen through the inadvertent non-removal of a plug, (normally left in when the dishwasher is not in use). Since the error originated with our serviceman, we saw to it that it was rectified to their satisfaction, the very next day. On 1/14/2013, the member called our office to complain that water was backing up in his dishwasher. Since he assured us that the electrical components of the installation were working properly, we correctly advised him to seek the services of a licensed plumber. He became irate, adamantly arguing that we were both an electrical and plumbing service and were, therefore, contractually obligated to rectify his plumbing problem. It seems this misconception of our status stemmed from a conversation that he had with our Electrical Helper during the course of the installation. The employee stated that, while talking with the member, he had mentioned the fact that, prior to joining J.I.M.S. Electric LLC as an Electrical Helper, he had in fact, been a licensed Plumber. In the interest of maintaining good customer relations, our employee volunteered, and we agreed to underwrite the associated cost, (gas and labor), to have him return to their home and attempt to assist them. Please bear in mind that this was done as a token of goodwill and not as an obligatory exercise! At the house, our employee informed them that he would attempt to enable a "quick fix", but, in the event that he was unsuccessful, they would have to seek the services of a licensed plumber. Once he had completed his task, he received a $10 tip from them. Unfortunately, his effort was not successful in remedying the situation. Whereupon, the members unleashed a daily barrage of verbally abusive, threatening phone calls to our office staff. The member was particularly vitriolic in her relentless attack, repeatedly threatening to report us to every conceivable agency, thereby ruining the hitherto sterling reputation of our Company. In light of their unrelenting, pervasive conduct we had no alternative but to curtail all interaction with them. It is our contention that for a $65 fee and the goodwill of these customers, our company incurred expenses in excess of $300, (gas and labor for 3 trips to their home), going that 'extra mile' to assist them in rectifying problems that were not of our doing and for which, we were not physically, legally or morally responsible. We could do no more."
