. The tech then proceeded to recommend that the system had failed and it needed replacement. He could get some one to give an estimate of the cost and replace it right away. He explained several design options which I needed in addition to equipment replacement. The equipment costs would be about $6,000 to $7,000. The unit was about 10years old so its about reached its life’s end according to the tech. I don’t spent $7,000 without a second opinion and researching my options such as a different and better manufacturer and other installer (bids). I had him recharge the unit at a costs of $377 rather than make a costly error.
On 5/14, I had another A/C company analyze the problem, they found no leaks and the system had not leaked any coolant. They felt it was a stuck valve which caused the leak. The tech they sent out was more concerned with selling a new system, not correctly analyzing and fixing the problem. We have had Ranger do maintenance on our system for 6 years, NO MORE. They failed us when it counted.
