I am only going to Home Depot because they were cheaper than Lowe's. The same doors and Lowe's wanted to charge $1500 but Home Depot only charged $900.00.

Water Heater Service
I bought a water heater at this Home Depot to put in my mother's condo. After calling around, I decided that using Home Depot to put the water heater in would be the best since I was having trouble finding someone who did both electrical and plumbing. HD initially quoted me $250 for the installation for a 30 gallon water heater. But then the contractor HD used started tacking on fees that were not discussed up as possibilities up front. First there was an additional $70 fee because the heater is in a closet and was below the A/C unit (but the water heater is not impeded at all by this A/C unit and this fee seemed quite silly and just a way to jack me further). I agreed to pay this fee just to get on with the whole thing. The morning of the installation, HD called me to tell me that the contractor was demanding an additional $140 to replace some "tubing" because there was "exposed wiring." This is completely idiotic. The old water heater's electrical connections have wire caps on them and are not dangerous or non-functional in any way. The current plumbing is with with PVC pipe and there are no leaks or any other problems. I just want a new water heater because my mom is old and the water heater is old and I don't live in town to deal with a watery mess when the current water heater decides to crap out. So this bit about the tubing made it really seem to me like I was being jerked around. So at that point I called the whole thing off and then HD AND the contractor started calling me. The contractor started trying to indicate that maybe he could work something out with me and to top it all off, my mother, who does not speak much English, had indicated that things were not as they were before and I had to ask the contractor directly to leave things exactly as they were. I had the distinct impression that if I had not made that point, that things would have been not left as they were before I got into this mess. Do not use Home Depot to put in your water heater. You will be sorry.
