"Thank you so much for your kind words [Member Name Removed], it was a pleasure working with you! I hope we can work together on another project soon."
I would not hesitate to work with Evans and Evans again. This was our first big home project, and Gary Evans made it as pleasant as could be.
Once we agreed on the scope of the project, Gray provided a detailed quote and contract for the work to be done, as well as all the required insurance and license documentation. Gary was also flexible with scheduling the start-day, and was willing to start when it was convenient for my family. Once Gary and his crew arrived, they were professional, punctual, and the work they performed was more that satisfactory; it was excellent. The work was completed ahead of schedule and the job site was left as clean (if not cleaner) than when they arrived. And to ensure that I was happy with the work, Gary patiently reviewed the repair work with me step by step.
I would absolutely recommend Evans and Evans to anyone looking for a trustworthy and reasonably priced contractor who will perform high quality work!
The second phase was repair and replacement of roof over the entrance of the home. Original roof was fiberglass, which was replaced in 2005 after significant hurricane damage in 2004. The new roof leaked and several attempts were made to correct the problems, none were successful. Mr. Evans as well as others were contacted to assess several problems that needed to be fixed. After reviewing the estimates provided and further discussion with all, we selected Mr. Evans. Mr. Evans researched current products on the market, which he thought would better meet our needs. After several delays, none because of Mr. Evans, the work was completed. We found Mr. Evans to be understanding of our desires both financially and aesthetically. We would hire Mr. Evans again.
A month or two after he finished the work, my roof developed a leak near where he had been working. Even though it was likely not his fault (I had a new roof installed by a different company right around the same time), simply because there was a small chance that it might have been, he returned multiple times to troubleshoot where the leak was coming from. He eventually completely redid a small portion of the roof in the area where the leak was and that fixed the problem. Meanwhile, the new doorjamb that he had installed warped slightly due to the Florida humidity, causing the door to become crooked. He came and fixed this problem also, no questions asked.
I am a first-time homeowner, meaning I didn't know a lot going into this process . Gary was and continues to be extremely helpful. In my opinion he is a very trustworthy and skilled contractor.
Then I heard from Gary Evans of Evans & Evans Construction, who not only read my email, he had actually studied the pdf attachment, then emailed me immediately to tell me he thought I had ordered the WRONG DOOR. And I had!!! I ordered the dog door for door installation, when I needed the dog door for wall installation. How amazing is this??!! Gary caught my mistake, so that I was able to return the wrong door, and order the right door and have it at our home before he came out for the installation. I was impressed beyond words before I even met him!!
Gary was in constant communication; when the door arrived, scheduling the work day, then confirming the date. He arrived on time, in a company truck packed with every tool he needed. He unpacked the box and studied the drawings again, then flawlessly installed the door. This was installed through our hardiboard exterior siding, through the wall and into the garage. My husband and I were busy with Saturday chores but peeked in once in a while, in awe, at all the work (precise placement, measuring, cutting metal, walls, siding, the door installation) that was involved - and the skill that Gary has. His work is impeccable. He is honest, personable, professional, and we would recommend him without hesitation.
One last word to any other contractors reading this - we plan to turn this big garage into a downstairs master suite, add on a large master bath and closet, and back deck that connects with our existing deck in the very near future. Guess who has the job? Gary Evans, Evans & Evans Construction. Gary says "that kind of work is really his specialty". He works with an architect and engineer who fool-proof floor plans (CRITICAL) and specializes in home additions and remodels. We spent time in the backyard discussing our renovation ideas and Gary could see it just as we did. We wouldn't consider using anyone else.
So, sometimes it pays to help a customer out with a small job - you never know what other business might come from it!
