Todd and Son Tractor Services

After working out a price with Todd I called him a few weeks later to schedule a time for him to do the grading.. I asked him how long he thought he would need and he told me 3 days should do it. The first two days were spent just bringing dirt onto the property. In many cases the dirt which was suppose to be placed in low areas was placed on high areas of the property. On the third day he showed up with his dad (a very nice gentleman) with a bobcat and a tractor tiller in tow. Aparently the plan was to rototill the pastures and then grade them out with the bobcat. I expressed my concern at this and asked if it would not be better to disc the pastures to insure that the grass was cut up and pressed into the ground and then use a box blade to level. He responded that no, the tiller would be best and he could get an level grade using the bobcat ... wrong, wrong, wrong as I found out. Todd did a decent job around the house and septic, but the work on the pasture was a total waste of time and money. The tiller created clumps of sod that when dragged by the bobcat created ruts in the pastures. Moreover, they made only one pass with the tiller and did not use a crossing pattern for the tiller or the grading. They spent one day doing this and then were out of there as fast as they could pack up the machinery.
Long story short, my pasture is actually worse in most places than before the project. If you know exactly what and HOW you want the work done, MAYBE, they would be a good choice, but my take was that they did not know what they were doing (at least when it came to regrading a pasture) and had no interest in doing it correctly. Live and learn, I'll need to save my pennies to have it done correctly next year ... waste of $2,000.
