Iron Air was on a list I compiled researching dryer vent cleaning, after a big problem using the dryer at my son's new home. He called back quickly after I made my "feeler" calls to those on my list, asked appropriate questions and could do the service soon. His quote was half or less than the other companies that responded, so I set it up. My son's property had been a rental for years and poorly maintained. The dryer kept stopping and took forever to dry a load, so we thought it was the appliance and got another. The new one worked but the heat inside the laundry room became unbearable very quickly, and was like a sauna. Truly, rivers of moisture were running down the walls. It was a hall type laundry area with a door to the garage on one side and a door into the kitchen on the other. I opened the garage door to vent the moisture and resolved never to use that dryer again until I figured out what was wrong. I'd never had dryer vent cleaning done professionally, just bought a long brush and stuck it up there and swished it around off an on, but it seemed time to give it a try. Joe at Iron Air sent Carl. He was on time, cheerful and friendly, listened to what had happened, and went right to work. He brought all the materials and supplies necessary. Some servicemen don't appreciate an audience, but he didn't seem to mind that my husband and I pulled up lawn chairs and watched. Children of depression era parents, we are careful with expenditures, and wary...and wanted to be sure we got our money's worth. Carl must have mountain goat in his genes somewhere because it was like watching Circe de Soulet as he maneuvered the tight spaces, moving things as necessary, working from all angles, both inside and up on the roof from the vent up there. This man could teach roofers a thing or two and I thought they were sure- footed. Each time I thought he was done, he'd say I want to give it one more brushing and go up on the roof and check again. Just as suspected, that vent was packed and matted solid from bottom to top and I was glad I decided to spend for the cleaning. Carl did a great job, without scratching appliance, walls, or floor, and cleaned up without any follow-up from me. That's unusual because I am particular. The amount of debris he removed was amazing. At the time there were so many bills with the closing and the moving, that I couldn't afford more service, but I resolved then to have the dryer vents cleaned in my home and my daughter's home too as soon as I could. After seeing what came out of the dryer vent, I wanted the AC vents at my son's cleaned as well, the disinfection that comes with the procedure and UV lights installed. It makes such a difference if anyone is asthmatic or has allergies, and the house smells much nicer if you have pets or a smoker (they don't need to smoke in the house, it clings to their body and clothing and gets into the furniture and rugs). I saved enough after the new year and called Iron Air back to do the AC vents at my son's and the whole works at my daughter's and my home. Her house has vaulted ceilings and took 3 different ladder sizes, a lot of work, but the quality was excellent. We own several properties and will call Iron Air for all of them in the future. Don't be fooled by the ads you see for AC vent cleaning that is cheap. I was once. They put a vacuum up to the main vent and sucked it out, sprayed something bleachy in, and were done in 15 min. Iron Air showed me the right way to really clean them. It is a lot of work and takes over an hour for the normal 9 vents, and larger homes like my daughters take longer. I watched it all and saw their care, and the hidden debris that was up in there. So don't be fooled, get it done right. When I complimented Carl on his careful, clean work, he said "you should see my boss, Joe, he is better than me". I can't imagine! I certainly recommend Iron Air. We have used it at 3 properties now with no problems. You will not be sorry.
