The owner of Waggingtails, Aliki, has been taking care of my pups for several months. She walks them everyday during the work week and is always flexible if I need to change the walk time, as my work schedule always changes. She also stays the night with my 2 dogs when we go out of town. I have peace of mind knowing my dogs are in their own home and in very good care. Aliki always leaves a very detailed log journal of her visits with the pups, and sends me texts of how they are doing along with pictures. She is very responsible, reliable, and my dogs love her! I highly recommend Aliki, and will be using her services for years to come.
I highly recommend Aliki and plan on using her for a very long time!
When I arrived home at 11:30pm with jet lag I discovered a fish tank so filthy I could barely see the fish and the floor of it was covered in so many uneaten food pellets that it looked like brown gravel and the smell was overwhelming. I had been very specific about how many pellets to give and this was unfathomably more. I dropped everything and completely cleaned the poor fishes home. When I later questioned her she said that she didn't know what could have happened as she had cleaned it five days before I returned. She hadn't smelled the stench? Or seen how cloudy and filthy it was? What are her standards? She also seemed to have used my soup ladle for what I don't know but it was by the fish tank. Yuck.
Then I moved to the little, elderly bird. Her feet were covered in hardened feces and seeds so that they just looked like hard balls on the ends of her legs. You couldn't even see that she had toes. It took a half an hour of bathing her in warm water to even soften the crud to get it off her. It has taken her weeks to be able to do anything but sit inside her food bowl as her already injured feet were so sore.
My dog didn't even get up when I arrived. This is an ebullient dog who has never held a grudge about me going away. She was depressed and thin. I had received one text photo the entire time and it was of her walking on the street where I had asked that she not. I had left specific instructions for her to receive cut up pieces of cooked meat that I had left in the fridge along with her crunchies everyday. It was all still in the fridge...still good but untouched. Ms. Campbell said that she had given her some but she had had diarrhea the first day so she never gave her anymore. It wasn't the meat because she has it everyday. It was, probably, having to wait so long to go out and the trauma of being alone during thunderstorms.
Then I checked the parrot. She seemed fine but all of her treats were still in the fridge so I guess she got nothing but seeds the whole time.
The cats seemed okay but her idea of cleaning the kitty litter had been to remove anything that was on the very top and pour a bunch more litter in. The box was so full I don't think there was room for a cat in there. My little one had urinated in a bucket on the bathroom floor on top of the plastic bags that she clearly had not used to carry out the used litter. Under the top inch of litter were masses of clumped urine. Their bowls were overflowing with food which was all over the counter calling ants. It was clear from that and from the overfeeding of the fish that she did not come often and just threw out a whole lot of food when she did so they wouldn't die.
All in all, I was shocked and horrified. I paid her the going rate that I have always paid to have someone actually stay at my house. She agreed to the rate and I was very, very precise as to what the job entailed. Obviously, she doesn't know how to care for multiple species. I wouldn't take her word for anything. I guess she's capable of walking a dog...as long as you don't mind your house being left wide open. When I told her that my house had been found unlocked she retorted that if I had 'random people' coming to my house she wasn't responsible. Ha...I had a trusted friend check on my animals because she had left my home looking as though no one was there...if you leave a garbage can overturned for a week by the road it sends a bad message.
I wouldn't let this woman near an animal I cared about on a bet. But, your choice.
