The bathroom cabinet he made was very nice, the remainder of the work he subcontracted and plumbing and tile was mediocre and overpriced. I learned a lot by hiring individuals to do each portion of second bathroom which ended up costing less than half of the original estimate he quoted, and less than 25% of the final estimate he presented when he finished the first bathroom.
If you use him, make sure you have every detail in writing.
Job took twice as long as promised (and then some waiting for doors to be installed/never were). Rob Eddy was untruthful and unrealistic about the cost and scope of work for this job. This caused me to miss two weeks of work instead of one. I was also told some work could be done on weekend, to save time missed from work, and it wasn't. Rob Eddy showed up on the job more than once without the proper or correct tools and materials to proceed with work. Granite was installed with incorrect pitch leaning towards the bathroom floor instead of inside the shower, allowing water to puddle on granite then run down the curb and corner of wall onto the bathroom floor. Large gap between granite and wall that had to be temporarily plugged to prohibit leakage from damaging wall and floor of bathroom. Rob Eddy personally set the granite (incorrectly), failed to caulk and seal the job properly, and also left the job without the shower door being installed. Upon demand, he was paid in full in advance (of the shower door install) for the job and failed to return (after several attempts to contact him) when the special ordered shower doors were received to install them. Job was incorrectly done and incomplete. Now the door (including large stationary glass) needs to be removed to fix the granite issue (at additional cost) and then reinstalled again (at additional cost). I already had to pay another company to install the door because Rob Eddy refused to do so, after receiving his payment in full. So I am left with a shower that is not functional without my bathroom floor flooding, because of the incorrect pitch on the granite.
This job took much longer than promised, much more expensive than I was told, and was done incorrectly and not even completed. I would never recommend Rob Eddy for any type of work to anyone. He is unprofessional, unprepared, unreliable and untrustworthy in his work. There were multiple delays and dilemmas due to his work ethic and business practices, or lack thereof.
"We took the information that was presented to us from the complainant and responded to each section of the complaint submitted to the better business bureau. Our responses are in quotes. Rob Eddy was hired for a shower repair to fix a failing shower pan. Tile on floor and partial wall of shower was replaced, curb was rebuilt and granite placed on top. "This is true. As there was no contract written, this job was being done as a favor" Job took twice as long as promised (and then some waiting for doors to be installed/never were). This caused me to miss two weeks of work instead of one. I was told some work could be done on weekend, to save time missed from work, and it wasn't. "A written timeline was never offered or promised. Because this was a favor, we promised that we would get to it when we had time. We never said that we would work on weekends as you cannot work on weekends at Turkey Creek" Granite was installed with incorrect pitch leaning towards the bathroom floor instead of inside the shower, allowing water to puddle on granite then run down the curb and corner of wall onto the bathroom floor. Large gap between granite and wall that had to be temporarily plugged to prohibit leakage from damaging wall and floor of bathroom. "The granite that was provided free of charge was installed correctly. There is no pitch" Rob Eddy personally set the granite (incorrectly) and also left the job without the shower door being installed. He was paid for the job and failed to return when the special ordered shower door were received to installed it. "From the beginning we stated to do the job correctly, we would not be able to use the existing door and another one would have to be ordered. We gave the name of a preferred vendor where a cost break was received that the named complainant took advantage of." As stated previously, this started out as a favor to the named complainant. In a job that should have been charged well over $4,000 the client was difficult to work with. We only charge the cost of the tile, the independent tile contractors time and the installation of the shower pan and the shower pan itself. In retrospect we should have had a written contract, a mistake that we will not repeat. Our work was done with pride, professionalism and the high standard that follows the RW Eddy Enterprises, Inc reputation. We believe our obligation with the complainant has been completed."
