Performance Transmission & AC Auto Repair

We always take our cars there when there is any kind of issue.

They are excellent. They are a family owned company. They are really customer friendly. The dealership reported to us that the oil pan needed replaced because they could not screw in a bolt. Performance Transmission & AC told us that it didn't need to be replaced because the oil pan seals good and it tight.

Time consuming as the engine had to be power washed first. They were recommended by Town Tire because they didn't have the equipment to clean the engine. I found them to be professional, friendly, up-front with estimate. Wasn't quite ready when thought but no huge concern. Also I like the one year warrantry. I will definitely use Performance Transmission again if needed.

I am a regular customer and have had many visits to keep my truck in top condition. I've had some fairly big jobs done there, and have never had a complaint. They even did some dirty work to remove rodents from the inside vents. Twice.

I've been a customer for 3 years. They were originally recommended by a tow truck driver because my clutch went out and i didn't know where to have the car towed. From 2010-2013, I had multiple problems with my clutch (2004 honda accord). I actually began to think it was Performance Transmission (PT) causing the problem by not installing the new clutches properly. I had the slave clutch cylinder replaced, then the master clutch cylinder, then the slave went out again and then the master again. The guys were quite stumped as to why i was having so many problems. Finally, the last straw was the master cylinder going out the second time. Even though the part was no longer under warranty, Performance Transmission replaced it for free because of all the trouble i had. They said they had never seen so many issues with the after market clutches and were going to talk to the manufacturer if it happened again. They finally suggested it was the mechanical clutch causing the hydrolic clutch system to fail so often. Granted, i had a lot of trouble with my car and wanted to blame it on PT, I believe it was a miscommunication and they thought the mechanical clutch had been replaced before i brought the car to them. They were always prompt to get my car in and out, and more than willing to explain the inter-workings of what they did. Prices seemed reasonable but i only got quotes from 1 other place. Overall, i really believe these guys are trustworthy and good mechanics.

The team at Performance Transmission is always polite, as helpful as they can be and as quick as circumstances allow. I found their quotes always to be reasonable and they really go the extra mile to keep costs down. They care about their reputation and seem to be part of a network of really good tradespeople. Whenever I needed a service they didn't provide they could suggest a sincere provider. I've never been disappointed.
After evaluation of the car's problem you get a call letting you know about the expected cost and time it takes them to fix it. They keep you updated about any changes in price and time schedule and don't give up until the problem is solved.
It's a very well organized, straight forward and experienced team.

My check engine light went on, they quickly diagnosed it as a bad O2 sensor.  I had also mentioned a minor issue with the power steering gone wonky on 2 seperate occasions.  They guessed immediately what it was, and when we went to look, they were exactly right.  One of the protective pans underneath the car was no longer there.  We set a time, and they got it fixed quickly.

I have been in need of A/C repair for more than 3 years.  In my previous city (just moved to Gainesville 2 months ago), I would try to get it repaired, then a month or 2 later, it would die again.  I have no idea how much money I've spent on it to this point, but every time I'd go back to get it checked again, it would be something new that was wrong and more money.  The A/C died again just before I moved to Florida.  I wasn't feeling like spending a bunch of money again so tried to stick it out, but it's HOT down here!!  So, I decided to check Angie's List (first time) to see if I could find someone with a good reputation to fix it.  I narrowed it down to two places, and chose Performance Transmission to try first because the reviews of the other one indicated an issue with promptness, and I just can't take any more of that!  I went in to it expecting to have to spend over a thousand dollars and possibly just a new A/C altogether.  I got there and was pleasantly surprised to find the place clean and organized.  Artie was right there and listened to my problem and took it that day (waited about 1/2 hour until a bay opened up) to check it out.  I probably waited a little over an hour total while they diagnosed and got an estimate.  Only $138 for a pressure cycle part.  They could get it by the next day (it was mid- to late-afternoon when I stopped by to have it checked), so I left the car and took the bus home.  By the next morning, they called and said it was done.  They also fixed my door latch which was coming apart for $10.  I really like these people.  They are calm and professional and prompt.  I asked if they do all car work and they do.  Everything but tires.  Now I have cool air and am so happy to have found a nice mechanic in my new city.  I'm scheduled for an oil change tomorrow.

I heard of these guys through word of mouth the have a pretty good client base, everyone seems to speak pretty highly of them. They replaced my water pump. I was very, very happy with the work that they did. I really liked Performance Transmission & A/C Auto Repair. I already had a pretty good idea of what was happening. They gave me an estimate of the price and length of time would take them to complete. The estimate that they gave me was right on the money. I had nothing to complain about at all. I had talked to a couple other companies and they seemed right in line with their competitors. I called while my vehicle was in the shop to ask some questions about the process. They were very response and willing to answer all of my questions. Performance Transmission & A/C Auto Repair was very professional, their shop is cleaner then any other shop in Gainesville. They didn't have a whole bunch of guys swearing and wearing dirty clothes. They seemed like they had their act together. I'm really stingy about this kind of service places. But this place really impressed me. I normally wouldn't rate a place this high. They do amazing work at Performance Transmission & A/C Auto Repair.

I have been going to Performance Transmission for years.  In spite of their name, the do all repairs on cars, not just transmissions.  The way I met them was that my previous mechanic who I used for years moved out of state.  He told me that if he was going to let anyone in Gainesville work on his car, it would only be Artie or Dustin at Performance Transmission.  I have been going there ever since.  They are in line price wise (or maybe better) than most of the reputable car repair businesses.
They have never tried to sell me anything I didn't need, but do sometimes let meknow that something on the car may soon need servicing.  They keep excellent records of everything that has been done to the car, and with an an appointment they almost always have it ready that day, unless it's something major.

If you have a car that needs repair, that's where I would take it, with no hesitation.

dealer would have done larger repair on evap system and charged more than double Artie did only what was needed - replace the defective solenoid that nissan vehicles have clearly been having trouble with (it's now redesigned) punctual finish of repair

Dealing with Artie & Performance Transmission was a first-class experience. He was responsive, communicated clearly, did not perform work without authorization and was very honest. He treated both my daughter & me professionally & respectfully. In one sense my daughter & I were "over a barrel" - she is a university student and I live over 150 miles away. I could not make the trip to Gainesville to manage this repair. A less scrupulous operation could easily take advantage of this situation, but working with Artie from a distance turned out to be a blessing, both financially & for peace-of-mind. The car was repaired on schedule, with ample time for my daughter to return home for the holiday break. I will definitely do business with Performance Transmission in the future.

They don't do anything that isn't needed. We trust them and would recommend them to others.
