"I'm sure you can understand our frustration and how you have not acted in good faith. You were clearly explained the warranty requirements, and even though we had nothing to do with the failure, we still offered to pay for the repair. It is so funny how entitled and disingenuous people have become when they get behind a keyboard."
"Mr. [Member Name Removed], I am sorry to hear this experience you had. I took over NCFAC in 2017, and believe that you would be more than impressed with our service today. If, in the future you are in need of HVAC service, please give us an opportunity to make this right. I will wave the dispatch fee for you on your next service need so can experience what NCFAC now has to offer."
mother was targeted by this unscrupulous company. She received an
unsolicited phone call from NCFAC offering a air conditioner
inspection and service for the ?special? price of $69 that
included cleaning of the condenser and evaporator coils. Their
technician opened her air handler, wipe a tissue across the blower
fan wiring, showed the the dirt (very minor) to my mother and
announced that she had a severe and dangerous mold accumulation. The
only solution would be to install a UV light/charcoal air
purification system to kill the mold. The cleaning of the coils in
the air handler could not be done until this unit was installed as
the cleaning would release dangerous mold spores into the house
making a bad problem worse. The technician happened to have a unit
on his truck and could install the unit immediately for $1500 for
5-yr warranty or $2,000 for ?lifetime? warranty. When she
hesitated, the pressure sales began. If the unit was not installed
she would be placing her home and health at risk; and if he could not
install now and had to come back on another trip there would be and
additional service charge of $95.00. My mother was upset enough to
call me for advice, and I advised her to wait and get a second quote.
The technician left after collecting the $69.00 payment for the
service that was not completed. We contacted Ray French Air
conditioning and Heating who gave us an approximate quote over the
phone of $950.00 to install an air purification unit. We scheduled an
inspection of the unit with them and were at my mother's home when
the technician arrived. When the air handler was opened the mold had
miraculously disappeared. Ray French's technician cleaned, serviced
and inspected the entire unit for a total bill of $111.00. Thank you
to a honest company! On North Central Florida Air Conditioning's web
site they state ?NCFAC stands apart with integrity?, another lie
from a company that steals from 86 year old grandmother.
"Thank you for sharing this. I noticed that you included an "A" for punctuality, which leads me to believe that this is an honest representation of what occured back in 2015. I was saddened to hear this account. I took over the company in 2017. I Went back and researched this and found that the technician who serviced your mother actually was fired in February of 2015. I have no doubt that your mother or anyone's mother would never experience this from my company. With that said, I still printed this review out, and have posted it in our training room as reminder of what we do and why we do it. If you are not having this system cleaned on a regular bases, I will volunteer my team to go out and take care of the maintenance this month for you at no cost and with no strings attached. I apologize for this experience."
The staff was an hour and 15 minutes late for our scheduled appointment. We had specifically scheduled the first appointment of the day at 8:30 am to prevent any unnecessary delays and called them twice that morning to confirm the appointment and get updates on their delay. The NCFAC technician who did the work was courteous and within 30 minutes he fixed the system. The NCFAC technician confirmed that the bypass damper counter weight was never installed and showed us where the roof truss was blocking the area where the bypass damper counter weight should have been installed. However, the poor design of the ductwork prevented the bypass damper weight from being installed when the unit was originally put in place in 2006. We both assessed that the way the initial ductwork was laid out was not optimal and the inefficient layout prevented the proper installation of the system. However, the technician was able to adjust the ductwork by moving it and within a few minutes, he completed the work and tested the system.
I called Chuck Fischer to discuss his technician's diagnosis. I also wanted to discuss the fee that he was charging me since I did not feel it was appropriate to charge me for a full-price service call to fix their error. He initially said the fee was the cost for the part - the part that they should have installed years ago. There was a heated exchange of words even to the point that he asked me how many times I had been in our attic since 2006 (he inferred that I was partly to blame since I should have seen the problem years ago). Funny because I'm not a trained HVAC technician and it even took his trained technician a few minutes to find the site of the problem even when he knew what he was looking for.
We have had other experiences with NCFAC that were fine and we hope this was an isolated example of tardiness and unprofessionalism. However, I find it intolerable that a company will not stand behind the quality of its work and does not offer to fix its errors.
"If you have not received an apology for this, please let me extend my deepest apology for how this situation was handled. I took over NCFAC in 2017, and Mr. Fischer is no longer part of the company. I can guarantee you that you would have experienced a completely different level of service if you would have called today. One of the first things I instituted when taking over was a lifetime workmanship guarantee. I know this review is several years old, but I just wanted to reach out to you and 1st apologize for the way this was handled back then, and offer you something to try and make it right. If you are not having your system regularly maintained, I offer my staff to you at no charge to come out and clean your system this month. No strings attached, just trying to show you the new NCFAC way of doing business."
