Max's Paint & Body Shop

Max's is old-school: they don't have a website, the original owner runs the place and he's about 70 now, the office has a path to the owner's desk worn right through the flooring, and if you go in the repair area you'll find dusty cars in a state of partial (dis)repair that cannot have been touched in years.
So you should avoid this place, right?  No.
Being old-school also means you'll get good, old-fashioned customer service and fair dealing.  One part we needed for our custom van was very rare and obscure, and Max didn't give up until he found it.  At that visit, we didn't have money for fixing the front fender (minor bend from a separate low speed collision).  When our van was not ready on the promised day, Max had the front fender fixed at no charge as compensation.  He also had the vehicle interior cleaned for us, which is no small job on a 3500 van that carries a lot of kids.  I've taken vehicles there 3 times, and each time the work was excellent.
My only complaints are that they don't take American Express, and on one occasion as noted above, they went beyond the promised date for getting the vehicle back to us.
