He is the most honest mechanic that I have ever met. I would trust him with the keys to my home. The story is 26 years long.

I probably should have my husband describe the actual car repair better, but he isn't home so I'll do my best and you'll still get a good idea of how JL's Auto Repair operates. Our 9 year-old Impala smelled like gas and we were afraid the gas tank might be leaking. The mechanics at JL's couldn't find a leak. They were very thorough, followed a hunch and found the problem -- which was a gas valve that was very difficult to reach and may have been ignored by other mechanics. They fixed it and noticed a hose needed replacing because the leaking gas had damaged it. They also advised us to have our oil changed as soon as possible because it was probably tainted by the thing they fixed having been allowing tiny drops of fuel to leak into the oil before it was repaired. These are very experienced auto mechanics -- and they are HONEST. They have taken care of our cars and those of our two sons for about 10 years. They always charge fair prices. They never try to 'fix' something that doesn't need to be.

JL's garage is not in a high visibility location, but I'm sure that helps keep their overhead down so they can charge customers less than most other places. It is a little tricky to find it. If you take 53rd from 34th St, cross over 441 (13th St.) and get into the left turn lane the moment you cross over the railroad track. Their driveway is right there on the left. Their garage is at the far right end of the 1st building, next to the truck rental (but it almost looks like it is a part of the truck rental business). If you miss the turn, just go a little further up the road and turn around.

He's been my mechanic for over 25 years and he is a beauty. He is one of the few honest mechanics in north central Florida. Once I met him and he did work for me when I was real poor, he just took good care of me. We had a part once that did work right at he took it off and said it would be no charge. He went down and got another one and put it on the car. That's the kind of people I like.
