VERY POOR COMPANY - The bad roof they replaced was much better than their new roof! Left nail holes on the ceiling throughout the whole house. They promised to fix but never did! Had an obese 400+ pound worker stomp around on the lumpy plywood roof! Their big heavy truck left huge cracks and ruined our concrete driveway! We paid them thousands of dollars for tens of thousands in damages!!!

Excellent but after they had finished several months later I tried to contact them to ask recommendations for roof cleaning (which I was told at time of roof installation they had annual contracts to do for their customers) They never returned email or phone message.

Never called back.

I called for shingle quote due to expected high cost of metal. Godwin recommended metal to match main house. They gave a quote that was unexpectedly close enough to shingles that it made cost sense to upgrade. The result is far better aesthetically, functionally and will last much longer. I really appreciate the expert advice, friendly attitude, and professional installation.

They did an excellent job. I called Godwin for a shingle roof on cottage next to house due to cost. Godwin recommended metal to match the main house and priced it close enough to shingles that it made cost sense and aesthetically and functionally is far better. So we got great advice and a much better outcome.

Said they would schedule a time to look at the roof and give an estimate but never followed up.

Before the equipment and workers getting it off my roof were gone, Godwin Green was there to help! It was pouring rain and they covered the roof so it would not get water damaged and then fixed within a few days. They did a great job and were very professional! I think they did it at a reasonable price too!

Chris Tenney was prompt in his estimate. He was well informed as to his products and was frank and forthcoming with information as to our property type and location. His crew was here at the appointed time. The crew was respectful, knew their job and just went about doing their work. Clean up was remarkable. The only problem we had was a typo error on Angie's List coupon for Godwin. Chris said he would take it up with Angie's List and made good the error to our benefit.

A NIGHTMARE! Their foreman, Matt was more interested in his side businesses than he was in supervising our roof. I would go out for a few hours, after Matt came in the morning, and Matt would be gone for the day, but the workers were still there. Chris Tenney asked if he could put a dumpster in our driveway. He never mentioned that the dumpster could crack the existing driveway. I would have never allowed the dumpster, had I been told, or known ahead of time that this would happen. They DESTROYED our ENTIRE CONCRETE driveway. I watched the truck that removed the dumpster get stuck, and roll back and forth to remove the heavy dumpster from our driveway through the window. We got estimates for repairs that exceeded the costs of the roof. Did Chris help us out? Not a chance!! He wouldn't help us find contractors to fix the driveway, and he DIDN'T carry insurance to cover the damage. To make matters worse, our new roof leaks horribly, and has destroyed our wood floors in the home. Godwin has caused us approximately 20 -25,000 in damages for the driveway and the flooring. We DON'T know the cost of the roof repair yet! To add insult to injury, when we called them out to talk about the damage, Grandfather Godwin spouted bible verses at us, as if WE were trying to cheat THEM to get a free roof!! I was called a liar by Grandfather Godwin. They have NEVER offered to repair our driveway, and they stopped all communications.

All work performed as promised and thus far after several heavy rainstorms since installation in October 2016, no leaks observed.

The entire job was completed in one day even though there was extensive work needed to replace wood, including the 2 X 6 plank across the front of the house. The lot was cleaned up completely when they were done. Work started at first light and they finished at 5 PM. The dumpster bin was removed the following day. The owner Christopher Tenney made sure the inspector signed off on the job. The initial quote was a bit less than others of equal quality.

We chose Godwin Green Roofing for several reasons 1) Chris dropped off a folder of information when he stopped by to check out the roof prior to drawing up the estimate. It contained information on vents, skylights, shingles colors, and the metal manufacturer's color/style guide. This was leaps and bounds better and more professional than the no-options, one page estimates I received via email from the competitors. 2) There were no salesman tactics. I could easily have a 20-minute phone call about the options (ridge vent, gable vent, solar powered fans, color of roof, heat foil, etc) and at no time feel pressured. We talked about the long-term goal of lowering our GRU bill and he told me where I'd get the best bang for my buck. He also gave great advice on what would look best on our cedar house. 3) Godwin was the only roofing company to even mention removing the old shingles before they put the roof down. I absolutely loved this idea because we knew there were already some problem spots in the roof including a rotting joist. Why would I put a $17,000 roof over rotted plywood? Demo of the shingle roof and replacing the rotting plywood only took a day and a half and was 100% worth it. 4) Godwin Green Roofing gives back. They volunteer to redo roofs for those in need in our community. They've taken their crew to hurricane-ravaged areas and redone roofs for free. To me, that's a company that has it's priorities straight. Why we would recommend Godwin Green Roofing: 1) His crew was efficient and respectful. We had a lot of repairs (two leaks, one joist reinforcement, chimney rebuild, replace all the fascia and half of the soffit) so we got to know the crew pretty well. The crew was understanding of our dogs and their need to still use the fenced-in backyard even while work was going on. They were able to get the back of the house done in two days so that we were able to use the backyard back ASAP. 2) Mr. Godwin, the man who started the company, would periodically drop by our house to make sure everything was coming along as it should. He is a finish carpenter and especially enjoyed helping the crew get our cedar chimney exactly right. 3) Every time another pesky repair showed up, we were given options. When we asked for opinions Chris, the crew, and Mr. Godwin were always up for a conversation and not just a quick answer. They asked us questions that we didn't think to ask and we always decided on the best solution for our unique situation. We weren't automatically told that the most expensive option was the best option. The care and concern exemplified professionalism; we were not just a paycheck but a valued customer. It's almost a shame the roof will last so long that we probably won't need another one because we would definitely use Godwin Green Roofing again.

Every aspect of the job was done with high quality workmanship and the finished roof looks absolutely stunning. ? They placed a large dumpster on the premise, approximately 8 workers plus a supervisor showed up in the early morning, the workers were very polite and focused on the job............there was no goofing off, ?no taking of long breaks, and hardly any conversation, and certainly no foul language; ?as a matter of fact, no one smoked either. ?They placed large plastic drop clothes all along the base of the house to catch most of the debris and kept the area clean during the entire job. ?By late afternoon, the roof was completely installed and the area was cleaned up.........as a matter of fact, other than having a ?new roof, you would not have known they were there by the time they left. ?And the professionalism was evident throughout. ?Even the General Manager/owner, Chris Tenney, was present for a good part of the day; and he made sure we were completely satisfied with their work. ??As a matter of fact, we were also blessed by a visit from the original owner of the business, Mr. Godwin..........it was so nice meeting such a nice and?caring person.

Chris was extremely good at helping us decide the type and color of shingles as well as the type of skylights to add.  His advice was one of the reasons we picked Godwin Green.  In addition, one of our neighbors had used his company and was very happy.  His crew showed up promptly on the day promised.  They worked quickly and effectively.  He also had them redo a small section that was not up to his standards.  The final result was a really beautiful architectural shingle roof.  The cleanup was well done.   There were no surprises in the final bill.   We're very happy with the results and recommend his company highly.

We obtained several bids prior to replacing our old asphalt roof with a new metal roof, in anticipation of installation of a rooftop photovoltaic solar system. The prices varied widely from high to very high.  Towards the end of this process of looking for a contractor, the name Godwin Green Roofing (Gainesville, FL) started to pop-up.  When this contractor was also recommended by the solar installer we had chosen (Pure Energy Solar) I decided to call for a bid.  Chris Tenney, the grandson of the founder, William ('Papa G') Godwin got back to me on the day before his wedding, and came out to bid the job -despite our remote location- shortly after his return from his honeymoon.  The bid was reasonable and he even talked us out of replacing some of our existing skylights with solar tubes as he felt this would be too costly and aesthetically difficult.  He priced out all of the options separately and did not push any of them.  We agreed on the work to be done, a price, and on a start date, and his crew arrived as scheduled. The removal of the old roof, the replacement of damaged decking, and re-nailing of all decking was completed in the first day.  The work proceeded in an orderly and continuous fashion over the course of one week. The crew was professional and respectful,  leaving the roof weather-tight at the end of each day and cleaning the job site as they went along. They took down vinyl siding on a vertical wall drop in the roof to allow for flashing, preserved it, and re-installed it at the end of the job - saving me the cost and hassle of having to find a contractor to do this.  Chris coordinated the roof installation with both the solar contractor as well as the individual who performed the wind mitigation analysis (to lower homeowner's insurance premiums) to assure that all went smoothly.  He was easily accessible to me during the entire project for questions or concerns. They took considerable care in ensuring that all flashing, boots, and valleys were properly installed to avoid future issues.  As my existing gutters were hung a little low for a metal roof, they installed extra wide flashing from the roof edge to assure that no water would run behind the gutters.  By the end of the job we had a beautiful metal roof with a finished look that you sometimes don't see on other metal roofs.  The crew even came back on the Saturday after completion of the roof to police the work site for nails and other debris as inclement weather prevented it being done on Friday.  I can't say enough for how pleased we were with the entire process with Chris Tenney and Godwin Green Roofing.  I would recommend them without reservation and would use them in the unlikely event that I should ever need another roof.

Excellent!! Chris' crew came in early in the morning and by 3:00 PM they were all done. The work is excellent and the roof looks gorgeous. The crew worked fast, efficiently but the workmanship quality is outstanding. They replaced several boards and boots and installed ridge vents to replace the old vents as well as two skylights. As a very picky homeowner I would not hesitate to recommend Godwin Green to anyone.
