The work provided was sloppy and incomplete, and the workers demonstrated a general disrespect for the property (paint dripping down the porch screen, previous paint color left exposed, landscaping damaged, items missing, etc.). When we addressed these issues with the owner, we received a nasty response stating that the work was 100% complete per the work agreement and that he would be coming by the next day to collect what we owed. Apparently, quality of work and concern for the customer’s property is not a given and must be specified in the work agreement. Likewise, they were supposed to repair a hole squirrels had made in the front soffit. I had recently replaced all the existing plastic vent covers in the front soffit with metal screw-in covers as squirrels would simply pop the plastic covers out and gain access to the attic. The squirrels had since made a hole in the soffit, and I had to use a one-way door to get them out of the attic. I paid Carman Restoration and Maintenance to repair the hole prior to painting the exterior. Their solution was to take on of my new vent covers, screw it in over the squirrel hole, and put one of the old plastic vent covers in the open vent. When we stated this was not acceptable, the owner replied that per the work agreement they only said they would “repair” the hole and they had repaired it “to the best of their abilities.” This should be all you need to know about the best abilities of this business. We paid what we agreed upon to settle with the owner and avoid further incident, but we did not get what we had bargained for in return. Overall, we received poor service with a poor attitude. We will not hire Carman Restoration and Maintenance again, nor will we recommend them to anyone else. The customer deserves better.
Description of Work: We recently hired them to paint the exterior and provide some minor repairs for a home that we were preparing to put on the market for sale.
