Floridian Coastline Insurance

Watch out. At first everything seemed to go well. I met with Michael Cruz and he told me he was able to get me an excellent policy through Universal. I gave him paperwork from my condo association regarding our monitored fire alarm system (to get a discount). When the policy arrived there was no discount. I called him and he stated that he had to get a new letter from the association but that would be fixed. On November 20th I received a notice of cancellation from Universal because certain underwriting requirements, unrelated to the fire alarm discount, were not fulfilled. I called the insurance company and they told me that there was additional paperwork that the agent needed to provide because my personal property coverage is less than $50,000. They also told me, contrary to what Cruz had told me, that there was no discount for the fire alarm monitoring because it did not go directly to the fire department.
I immediately called Cruz and told him I had just received a notice of cancellation....before I could tell him I had talked to the insurance company he told me that was a 'computer' problem and the insurance had actually been reinstated (not true). He said I would be getting the reinstatement notice. Three days (11/23) later I still had no reinstatement and sent him the following email: and quot;Hi Mike,As of today's mail (Saturday) I have not received a reinstatement notice for my condo.Would you please let me know what the underwriting requirement is that they say was not fulfilled? Also I think you mentioned you had a copy of the reinstatement, could you send it to me?Thanksand quot; By the following Wednesday he still had not replied to my email or call me. I called the insurance company again asking why I hadn't received a reinstatement and was told that the agent had still not provided the required underwriting paperwork. Obviously Michael was not being straight forward with me and did not followup on the paperwork. I immediately went to another agent and obtained identical condo insurance from another carrier for less cost. I would never use this agent again.

UPDATE: This amends my review below Dated: November 28, 2013. I received a lengthy email from Michael Cruz explaining the situation I discussed in my review. He tells me there were a number of family issues going on with him at that time. We all have things that come up in our lives so I would give him the benefit of the doubt when he tells me this would not happen again. You should consider using them and make your own decision.

Easier then I could have imagined. Bought a new home, insured it, insured my cars and my business all in one visit.
