I moved to the area in 2012 and was happy to find Mark's Autowerks in Fort Walton Beach.  I do most of my own maintenance but there are some things that are outside my comfort zone and I am always nervous about taking my cars to a new place.

Previous to the subject work, I took my Porsche 996 to Mark's on a couple of occasions.  The first was to have an LN Engineering IMS bearing installed which Mark is very experienced with.  The clutch was worn to the point that it made sense to replace that as well along with updating some clutch related parts and rear main seal.  Parts and labor were all very reasonable.  The second time was after I attempted to change the exhaust gaskets and sheared off one of the 12 bolts.  I got my car over to his shop and he was able to drill it out and fix the threads along with changing the thermostat (the thermostat housing had to be removed to get to the bolt).  In both cases, I was very happy with the work and trust Mark with my vehicles (which I am pretty particular about).

The subject service was accomplished on my wife's Passat TDI that was due for 160k mile service.  I provided the parts for the service and his charge for the labor was very reasonable and I am confident the work was done right.  So far, the car is running great.

Like I said, I don't like to let other folks work on my vehicles unless I have to, but I am happy to let Mark work on them when those occasions come up.  Just keep in mind that Mark has a small independent shop and always seems to be busy and doesn't always work standard hours (which is why I gave responsiveness and punctuality a 'B').  If you want a 9-5 operation with a waiting room with TV and coffee, the dealership might be more appropriate; but if you want quality work at a fair price, Mark's is the best I have found in this area.
