I called the company several times before I was able to schedule an appointment for them to perform the service. While I was calling, I was experiencing pest problems in my home. The process between quoting, finding a convenient time and getting the service was weeks long.
All of my calls were answered courteously and in a professional manner. Although getting a response was timely, they did respond and the operator was polite and knowledgeable. I was instructed to make sure that my floorboards were reachable.
Between the time when I called for an estimate and the time when they arrived in my home, I had to empty my pantry and search all grain products in the pantry to find the source of a moth infestation. I had to throw away a great deal of stored food in that process. I then used the Internet to get more information on how to control the pests and cleaned out the pantry using Internet instructions. I cleaned and painted my pantry and kept the pantry items on my small kitchen table while I waited another week for service. The pest continued to thrive. In fact, one night I made the comment that the moths were having a party in my house. In the months prior, I used spray pest control several times and bought discs from a local merchandiser to control the problem on my own.
I also continued to mow my small lawn and asked my neighbor to cut their grass explaining that I was having pest problems. I read on the Internet that keeping the lawn maintained helps to control pests. Although one of my neighbors complied immediately, the other one took a bit more asking and one has not done a thing to the lawn to date. However, much to my surprise, I woke up one morning and saw a tractor cutting the grass on the "common grounds" of this complex. This common ground maintenance has become a rare event in my complex for some unknown reason.
The appointment was rescheduled for one week after the first scheduled appointment because of Hurricane Isaac. When the pest control service member finally arrived, he was courteous and patient while he explained to me how I could make changes to my home to stop pests from entering the premises. He provided me with a mousetrap and told me how to set the trap, where to set the trap and what food I could use to bait the trap. He showed me the places where outdoor pests may enter my home and suggested that I cover those spots or hire a handyman to do it for me. He gave me a few pest control discs that I could place in my kitchen. He then used some spray around the house.
Since the visit, the pest problem has slowly diminished. I am not frantically seeking a way to control the pests. I realize that it may return and I have bee left with a list of "to do's" to control the problem myself.
