Chris Finch

Chris Finch agreed to provide all labor with me supplying the cabinets and paint. He was to supply the texture mud, tape, brushes, rollers etc. The job was to remove old kitchen cabinets, install new kitchen cabinets, remove popcorn ceiling, texture (knockdown) ceiling and walls and trim and to paint the ceiling, walls, and trim. He did remove the old cabinets and install about 75% of the new cabinets OK. He sent a crew (2) to remove the popcorn and texture. They did not remove all of the popcorn before texturing. They did not tape off trim, outlets, doors, hardware.....Texture got everywhere even over some walls they had started to paint (even before the ceiling was finished). They fixed this by painting over the lumpy texture on the walls again! They were very sloppy and over brushed paint from the trim onto the walls! Texture would fall from the ceiling as they painted with a roller instead of spraying paint! I must point out that they were trying to do the ceiling last instead of first! The texture person said that he had done texture only one time before and needed help but Chris would not give any help. I tried calling Chris and he would not respond. Then he sent a person over who said they had 30 years experience to take over the job but he was just as bad as the first one! He worked 2 hours one nite then two hours the next nite and said he would be in the next day. He showed up four days later whereby I told him to take his tools and leave!! After 25 days of so called progress if you would call it that I emailed Chris that he and his crew were fired!! Chris got $1500 up front and I gave him $1000 one week into the job when I saw progress on the cabinets. Chris would not answer his phone or messages during this whole period. His crew said that he was busy on a more important job over in Destin. My wife and I had to sand down all of the painted texture he over sprayed on the walls and trim. Then I painted all of the trim again. I hired a new painter/texture and carpenter to finish the ceilings, walls and cabinets. They accomplished more in five days then that whole incompetent crew did in 25 days. I also ended up paying for all of the mud, tape, rollers etc. I figure we lost at least $1500 on the work by Chris Finch, plus my wife and I had to put in additional work cleaning up the mess. I do not recommend Chris Finch and his workers for anything to do with painting or texturing.
