ROOF REPAIRS ONLY SOUTH INC

We discovered a leak in our dining area and called Roof Repairs Only to get an estimate on repairing it. Mr. Martz came out, inspected the roof and then mailed us a contract, which we received about a week later. In the meantime, we experienced unusually heavy rains and wind at our house, which caused new leaks in the back bedroom ceiling. We wanted Roof Repairs Only to do the work. We had not yet signed the original contract or sent them a deposit, so I called their office to ask them for a new estimate. Beckie instructed me to just sign the original contract and send them the deposit for that work, which was $128 (10% of $1,280.00). That would get us on the schedule, she said. She would note that there were additional problems and when someone was in the area, they'd come by and look at it. This I did. A few days later, Mr. Martz stopped by again and looked at the roof over the back bedroom. He told us that we now needed a new roof. When I asked him how much that would cost, he said that Roof Repairs Only doesn't do complete roofs. I asked him if Id get my deposit back and he said Yes.

Since we'd been perfectly willing to have Roof Repairs Only do the work, and since they were the ones who said they couldn't do the work, I was surprised that when the check arrived it was $75 short. When I called to ask Mr. Parks about it, he told me that I should feel lucky to get that much. He later sent me an email stating that the company was "justified in keeping all of your deposit" and "we expected you to be appreciative of our generosity." He also stated, "There will be no further response ... this file has been closed."  On October 31, I wrote to Mr. Parks, outlining the circumstances and asking him to return the remaining $75 of our deposit, but have not heard back from him.

I called to try to get a quote on repairing a roof leak. After the first call I got a callback a couple days later saying they could come out at a certain time the next morning and to call them back if the time did not work since they needed someone to give them access for the estimate. I called the next morning to say that no one would be available at the time they proposed and was told that they would call back to reschedule. I never heard from them again.

I suspect that either my job sounded too small for them or that I was too far from their home office (I'm in Palm City and it appears they are in Vero Beach). Either way, their lack of follow through was unprofessional.

They did what they said they would and the work was done to my satisfaction

Job was done on time and under estimate. Very unusual to have a contractor submit a bill for less than the original estimate. I would consider this person for future roof repair work. Thorough and detailed estimate of proposed work.
