This doctors office is wonderful. All the people that work here are kind and caring. The doctor checked for an ear infection and flushed Nikita's ear. She was so gentle and you could really tell she cared for our dog. Coming from a different state and finding a new vet was a big concern.... So glad we found Verandah !!!

We took our dogs to Verandah Pet hospital for a check up and required shots... everyone at Verandah is helpful, professional and knowledgable. I would recommend this office to anyone with pets.

We had called for the dental cleaning appt. They gave us an approximate figure of $700-$800. When the work was completed, our bill was $1500 - we were shocked. The estimate was for 1 dog - not 2 which was not noted. The cleaning, tests, xrays, anesthesia were fine. They were very understanding of our shock and did come down quite a bit for the visit. We believe Dr Piper is outstanding but extremely expensive and quick to want to run extra testing. We have learned to say no unless our dogs show a real sign of need. When we have needed them in an emergency, they have been outstanding.

I thought he acted really arrogant. I asked some questions about a few possible health problems related to Italian Greyhounds and instead of answering my questions he gave answers like, and quot;Oh all owners with long nosed dogs think that.and quot; He used to be better before he suddenly left and came back a year or two later. I don't remember the arrogance before, but then this is the first purebred dog I have brought to him so maybe that was the problem.

I've used Doug Piper, DVM since he first got out of vet school and opended his practice 30+ years ago. He's always shown huge care and concern for my animals (and my mothers) and treated them with love and care. His staff shows the same level of concern and care and many have been with him for many, many years. I live quite a way from his hospital now, but always end up returning as I've never had the level of trust with the Vet's I've tried on the south end of the county. I've come back to him repeatedly when other vets couldn't diagnose, or treat or do surgery without a specialist, and Dr. Piper has never let me down. It's worth the long drive. He has operated on and treated my animals successfully every time. He has show such a high level of care and empathy when we've had really sick animals and treated them and us with love and care when we've had to have them put down. He's the best of the best, just like his Dad was when he was the first and only vet in Fort Myers for a long time. I think it's just in his genes, and that may be whats lacking in many of his peers.

He never makes me feel rushed. He spends time with the dogs and you can just tell he really cares about what he does. I think that he is honest and fair. He doesn't push the most expensive option.

I took my dog, Maxwell, first to have his annual physical and to receive his annual shots. While he was there, he was chipped and received a six month supply of the oral flea, tick and heartworm medication. On the next visit, I took my cat, Lil' Bit, for her annual check up and to receive her annual shots. I also got her a 6 month supply of oral flea and tick medication. On Maxwell's next office visit it was for a teeth cleaning, in which they had to put him to sleep to do dental xrays and clean his teeth. He then had a follow up appointment to check his teeth and show me the proper way to brush his teeth.

Our first visit to this vets office and we were pleased to find an efficiently run and pleasant office. On the info form we filled out, they asked what type of food we feed our pet. They actually reviewed that on the spot, and inquired if we knew about the recent pet food recalls. We will definitely return to this vet again when the need arises.

Dr. Piper is like a an animal whisperer. I have never experienced such a good vet.

I received a prompt appointment for the dog to be examined.
Service was complete and professional. He even recommended ways to reduce the cost while maintaining the essential requirements to help my dog get well.

Everyone here was excellent. They were compassionate with both the people and animals.
