Bad experience overall and would not recommend. We hired them to do siding on a modular home. While waiting for materials to come in our home was damaged in hurricane Ian beyond repair. This company charged us over $5000 restocking fee for materials that had not come in and thousands of homes in our area needed the materials.

It worked pretty good. He was kind of a hard sell. He didn't want to come back here so he wanted to get the deal going. Then there were all kinds of problems. I gave him the down payment check and he took it back to the office and the secretary shredded it. I looked at my bank account and I'm saying geesh they haven't cashed that check yet. 

So they came down and finished the job and they said, Alright, here's what you owe. So I write a check out for that. Then they call me up and say No that was wrong, you owe the second payment. I said ok what is that, they told me and I mailed them a check. Then they called me back, and said the very first check you gave the salesman, the secretary thought she scanned it on the phone and it didn't go thru so she shredded it. So I had to send another check. It was kinda sloppy housekeeping, office practices or whatever you want to call it. 

The job itself, they did a pretty good job. I got hurricane shutters up, the accordion types, and they lost one of the locks, when you have them open, you have the little plastic things you put in to keep them open. One of them was missing, and they said are you sure it was in and I said yeah I know it was in because I just put them up not long ago. But other than that they did a pretty good job. 

He started out around $3500 but then they said I needed a lead test and that was another $100. Then I found out they weren't gonna give me the double sliding windows, because I had all sliding windows put on except for the 2 double hung far windows. So my big picture window in the front, I found out they only gave me the single slide, that means you can slide the window over to one side. I said no I want the double slide so I can open one side of the window 6" and the other side 6". Well, that's another $170 so I said ok I'll pay it. Anyways, they ordered the windows, they put them in and they seem to have done a good job. 

One thing I didn't like, there was a space over one of the windows. They bought a plastic spacer thing and I asked them if they were gonna put in any insulation, but they said oh no no. I think they should have because there was like a 1/2 gap on top of the window.

I should have gotten some other quotes. I still have 5 windows and a door to do and I think I am gonna look for a couple of other quotes.

Due to my weird schedule and the foot-dragging of the insurance company we had problems getting together for final measurements, but once the claim was settled they provided the unit in a timely fashion and their installers did a masterful job of getting it in place and finishing it off. The fit and finish was excellent and there was no mess of any kind when they were done, as they cleaned up after themselves and hauled away the packing materials and left the place in tip top shape. I was in the glass business for 25 years and know professionals when I see them and these folks fit the bill. When it's time to replace the rest of those old windows on the house I'll likely be calling Southland again to get the job done knowing I won't have to worry about the outcome.

They were fine and did a good job. They were careful and cleaned up after themselves. The only issue was that they put up hurricane screens and first of all I had to call for the permit because they didn't bring it with them. Before they helped us over they came out and gave me different permit papers so I didn't know what that was all about. Then when they came out to inspect it, the screens did not have a label on them and so that part of the inspection did not pass. Now they put the labels on and I'm just waiting for them to come back and inspect it. It's been two or three weeks since they finished the job. They were the most expensive company I had that gave me a price.

The windows are superior and they did excellent job. They were extremely professional and kind. I would use this company again in the future and recommend them.

The windows help with the heat. They are so different from a regular window. We are very happy with them. Everything was good with them.

The windows are great and the installation went like clockwork. Excellent sales staff, office and crew. I'll be call them for more jobs as soon as I finish paying for the windows.

They were doing work around in the neighborhood and asked if I wanted to have my windows done. I agreed. They showed up on time to do the work and the workers they sent out were friendly and professional. I would check out other places first to compare for prices before I would use them again.
