My husband and I had been debating whether to paint our kitchen vs remodel and we came across Royal Palm Closets and Custom Kitchen Cabinetry. We visited their store to ask few questions and set up a home consult and that is where we met one of the owners, Bonnie. We ended up contacting them to do a kitchen remodel along with a master bath and pool bath. We were nervous going with the company that didn’t come with a recommendation and that we had found just by walking into their showroom. I can tell you that they were probably one of the most professional companies that we have ever worked with, and we have remodeled over the years, several projects at other homes. Bonnie helped design and pick out all the finishes and was extremely helpful and receptive to any questions that I had throughout the whole project from beginning to end. Prior to our remodel start start date we received a project book that detailed every single cabinet, drawer, hardware, selection, layout, and the dates of when contractors would be in our home to do the work, what work they were doing, and their names. Everybody was scheduled for the whole project prior to it even beginning along with all materials. Every night I received an email of who was going to be arriving, and what they were going to be doing. All of the workers that entered my home were extremely professional and took great care in cleaning up at the end of the day. I would highly recommend them for any projects as I love how my kitchen and bathrooms came out.

NOPE - NEVER - Don't do it...We initially reached out to Royal Palm, a referral from our neighbor, to have them design and remodel our kitchen and three bathrooms. After speaking with the owner, Bonnie, she referred to us to one of her "top" designers: Melissa. Months passed, a few emails, some very poor 2D designs and finally after a visit to their show room we became really concern about Palm's ability to deliver anything. After a good deal of family discussion we decided to give them the relatively small project of enclosing our living room and converting it to a "transition room - office". That was in January of 2024. We signed a contract for $16K. It was at the high end of what we thought the work entailed. In short, we wanted to see the quality of their work; the pace of their work and their communication process. The project was to be completed in 6 to 8 weeks. We are SO thankful we made the decision to try before we committed to our bigger projects! Months later, missed appointments later, contractors late, materials not ordered, no communications from our designer, Melissa, to the contractors, work not getting done, work not getting done and more work not getting done the project was sort of finished a couple of weeks ago (5 months late and $7K over budget). We literally had to beg them to finish the job....emails, phone calls etc etc. To this date, one wall is still completely unfinished and another wall is crudely finished. Adding insult to injury, Melissa, our "designer" sent us, with no discussion, a $7K change order and final billing (now a $23K project). In short, I wouldn't hire this company to change a light bulb. I'm honestly shocked that they are still in business. However, I now see how they have managed: They essentially sign contracts, take the money, stretch some work out for months and then send surprise change orders/bills at the end of the project or when you've finally said you've had enough. NOPE - do not hire Palm. You will regret it! You can also see other honest reviews of their poor performance at the BBB = [*** Link removed ***]

"The above review of the events are not correct. What happened on this job included many changes in layouts and materials. Materials take time to come in. The homeowners delayed the job by not being in town. This homeowner was aware of the items they were adding to the job and that there would be a change order. The amount of the project did change based on those changes. We ordered and installed his selected products in good faith. When the bill came to be paid, this homeowner refused to pay for the additional work and materials which were now in his home. Instead he threatened to launch a damaging campaing on social media in order to ruin our reputation if we charged him. We are a small family owned business. Serving SWFL for 18 years. We pride ourselves on providing great products and services."

We engaged Royal Palm to perform a kitchen remodel, and while the final overall result is satisfactory (the cabinets are well-built), the time and money it took to get there was completely unacceptable. This was quite surprising given we had used them for another kitchen remodeling effort several years ago, but apparently many things have changed there, and not for the better. While we anticipated a lengthy permitting process due to Hurricane Ian, we did not anticipate that it would take 2 months to file for the permit and then 8 months to complete the installation once the permit was received. We were given a one-month install schedule that fell apart on day 1. Our project manager was on site for installation activities only twice over the course of eight months of on-premise work. Overall, the project took 15 months to complete. While the design phase went smoothly, thereafter the execution left a lot to be desired. Lack of project management oversight (scheduling and coordination) was the main culprit, although we also suspect personnel turnover also contributed, in addition to some inexplicable errors and omissions. So, while very pleased with the cabinetry, the overall experience was awful. We would not recommend engaging Royal Palm Closet Design & Fine Cabinetry for any renovation work until the company can prove these issues have been addressed and resolved.

"Your review of the facts of you review are not correct. Considering you are complaining about the project mangaement of your job is strange as you were the project manager. Your hired your own sub contractors throughout the job. Your are correct in saying the the hurricane did extend the lenght of time on many jobs for many reasons. The many many changes you made during the job also added time to your job. I apogolize that you feel that we took too long. Your remodel is absolutly beautiful and we hope you enjoy your new kitchen for many years."

Bought a home in Feb 2022 and hired Royal Palm Closet Design & Fine Cabinetry/John D'Eletto the very next day to remodel the kitchen, the floors, master bath, and master closet. We picked our cabinets, countertops, hardware, floor tile, etc. that very day. We signed the contract, paid the deposit, and handed John the keys to an empty home. Work was to be completed by April 2022. Unfortunately, it was not fully completed as promised, but we moved in May, nonetheless. We stayed in a room further away from the renovations and ate take out every day. Anticipating that the end was near, we carried on. The countertops we chose in February were not purchased then, so months later the price increased, and we had to pay the difference. Nevertheless, the kitchen was finally completed in July, and it looks beautiful. The floors were done beautifully as well. The closet is also completed. The PROBLEM is the master bath is still NOT finished. The shower door has been an ongoing issue for quite some time now. This was a problem from the day it was installed. We expressed our concerns to John, and he adjusted the door to the point where it left a large space between the wall and the glass. Additionally, he placed clear plastics on the wall tile to fill the space and prevent water from getting out. The plastics were not esthetically pleasing so we asked for them to be removed. The door is warped and does not close as it should. John promised these issues would be resolved, but I was constantly calling to follow-up. So, I went to the office to speak with the owner, Bonnie Carlin but did not have an appointment so I did not get the chance. I explained to Rebekah at the front desk instead and showed her pictures and videos of the various issues we had and asked her to relay our concerns to the owner. I also left a business card and waited for a call, but never heard from her. Another month or so went by and one door was finally removed but placed in our guest bedroom and stayed there for over 3 weeks. I went back to the office to speak with the owner, and once again, she was not available. Hurricane Ian came and went, and the door was still sitting in our guest bedroom. John proposed a resolution to fix the glass, but it would cost us more money, consequently, we refused and asked to get the current door fixed. We informed John that it was awfully rude for Ms. Carlin not to return a call and a day or so later she finally did, but stated that she did not call because she thought I was soliciting her for business, I left my business card… I am a banker. Really? I find it hard to believe, but that was her excuse for not reaching out. We agreed again that this would be resolved quickly. The glass company came back and installed the door that was in our guest bedroom and removed the warped door on 12-2-2022. John promised the door would be fixed and installed before Christmas. We asked and pleaded that it was done before Christmas, but here we are on December 26th. and we have not heard from John or anyone at Royal Palm. Unbelievable that this is how we are treated after all the work we had done!
Response from Royal Palm Closet Design & Fine Cabinetry Inc

"It is amazing the damage a person can do to a company with the internet. My husband and I have built this business over the last 18 years with our own blood sweat and tears. We have been successful in completing homeowners projects and having them refer us to their friends and family. The last few years have been challenging with covid, supply chain issues and now a hurricane. But we all strive to do the best that we can. John went over and above for you. When he returns from the holidays I will go over your issues with him. But from what I can see from the paperwork. He made your schedule and kept you on schedule. He ordered all your materials right away and was physically on your job site regularly. John has over 30 years of experience and works very hard for his clients. I understand you have an issue with the shower door. I understand he has been working on fixing that issue with the manufacturers. The shower door was templated and ordered as per plans. I offered to remove the shower door and credit you for the shower door, so you could source your own shower door. Which YOU did not accept. AT this point, I will have John write a final invoice crediting you on the shower door of 1326.00 and any additional charges you may have. I find it very sad and hurtful that you found the need to try to ruin the Christmas Holiday for John and myself by posting such a terrible and damaging review on Christmas. I would also like to address the comment you made about me being rude by not returning your call because I assumed you were trying to solicit my business banking. That is in fact true. You mentioned to John several times that you wanted to meet with me regarding my business banking. You came into the showroom and asked the receptionist to speak with me when asked what it was regarding you would not tell her you left your card and a brochure. So what was I supposed to think? Your Project came out amazing and is absolutely beautiful. We are proud to show the pictures as an example of our work."

I enjoyed working with Royal Palm. They incorporated my ideas and also provided guidance as to how to make our closets more functional, while keeping the cost down and the quality high. They promptly returned when a drawer was not working properly (a quick, 5 minute fix).

That was very good. What stood out to me was their quality workmanship. We were very pleased with their professionalism. They did a good job for us. They met their timeline. They ensured that the work was done right and the work was done well. They were recommended by our neighbors. They were pricey but worth it. If we needed, we would call them again.

We had done our homework and knew what we wanted for cabinet refacing, quartz counters, faucets, sinks. The installers the company sent were punctual which we appreciated. The installations of everything went well but there was a definite lack of attention to details: a 6 by 6 inch hole left for weeks in our kitchen touching a electrical switch box, true it was covered when the backsplash was put in but it was unsightly and next to an electrical outlet, a gap  around our kitchen island created from replacing the old counter with the new, yes our old molding was used to close the gap but I had to seal the new nail whole and paint the wall, I has to ask for sealer around the new bathroom sinks where there was a visible gap from the top of the counter to the top of the sink.  Fine, finished details is a weakness. the plumbers did a good job in their instillation of kitchen sink, faucets, garbage disposal, filtered water faucet.

At first I communicated with emails because I like documentation. No email was ever responded to. Phone calls had time delays up to more than 24 hours. Texting seemed to work but with delays. During the project, I stopped in the office to communicate some concerns. I learned our project manager was on a 4 day cruise. Someone in the office wrote down my concerns but no one in management or anyone else responded. I had to wait until our project manager returned from the cruise. All the workmen, installers, plumbers etc. arrived on time. CThe workmen who did all the installation were courteous and cleaned up after themselves.  We took the precautions of covering our furniture with plastic when the kitchen counters were installed. There was a significant about of ?quartz dust? from the drilling of the holes for the faucets.

We purchased all the faucets for bathroom sinks, kitchen sink, the kitchen sink, water filtration faucet and garbage disposal independently from the company. The two new bathroom sinks were purchased from the company.  The company staff were polite.

The lack of prompt communication, the lack of attention to installation details are the reasons I would not hire the company again.

The job that they did on designing and installing the kitchen was awesome! Everything was wonderful, but the problem was, we had the floors done at the same time and the salesman (who they've since let go), led us to a flooring supplier. They did a horrible job and we had to have the floor in 2/3 of the house taken up and someone else had to come in and re lay it. It was unfortunate that they had a bad egg salesman, but they certainly made everything right.

I had a very poor experience with Royal Palm Cabinets.  Mr. Meadows was unprofessional and insulting.  When discussing the project for the great room built-in cabinets he made a negative remark about an expensive piece of art that was in the room.  I assumed the appointment would go better from there, and brushed off the negative remark.  When we discussed the kitchen island project, he was confrontational.  I simply wanted to add two bookshelves to the existing island.  He replied that any time a customer thinks a project is simple, that the customer is wrong.  If he had advised me that Royal Palm will not do a retro-fit project, I would have accepted that response, and I would have taken that project off the list.  Instead he focused on re-doing the entire island.  Mr. Meadows did not listen to the type and style of cabinets I wanted for the room.  I had to reiterate several times that, even if the cabinets for the islands were completely re-done, I wanted "like" cabinets to the existing cabinets.
When Mr. Meadows left our home after the appointment, he said that he would have the estimate to me after the 4th of July.  Royal Palms never provided me with an estimate for any of the three projects requested.  If Royal Palms had determined not to do the work, Royal Palms did not have the courtesy to call me to let me know that they were not going to quote the projects.
I chose not to call Royal Palms to follow-up with the status of the estimates for the three projects.  I felt that any company that sends an estimator that is insulting and unprofessional and than fails to follow-up with the customer with an estimate in the time promised, didn't deserve my business.
Response from Royal Palm Closet Design & Fine Cabinetry Inc

"[member name removed] I do apologize for Mr. Meadows unprofessional manner. This is not the kind of thing I would like to hear about my employees. Please know I will address Dan and his actions. Please except my apology and rest assure this is not the manner in which we do business."
