Out of the blue the transaxle (the car is front wheel drive) stopped working in upper gears.  1st and 2nd only.
I initially took the car to my own mechanic, who, in my opinion is the best, and he simply shook his head that he would not touch it, with the admonition that even if fixed, it would be temporarily.  Just the facts maam, so to speak.
Anyway, I referred to Angie's list for a transmission shop and first and foremost, Lee County Transmission pops up.
I, like most of the readers I would assume, am skeptical about certain service providers.  Mechanics, Doctors, Lawyers are all heaped into that group.
Anyway, I went to the shop and immediately upon entering, I met the owner.
The place is very relaxed yet busy.  He sat with me for a few moments and ultimately we talked about the problem.  He was candid about the solution and also, like my own mechanic said, the fix, would not be permanent unless a full rebuild was done, which he adamantly advised against.  He went on to say that until he looked inside, while he could not be absolutely positive, he was pretty sure he had seen this issue before in that model vehicle.  By the way, he has been in business 33 years.  Experience is truly something magical.  He said he would drop the pan and take a look to see what's up.  My next question was how much for that.  No charge was the reply.  Already I liked this gentleman.  Now, I had to get something done, I had limited funds that I would put into this car, and I had to make the decision to junk the car or spend some money.  I mentally had a limit of 500.
Later that day he called me and  told me what he had found.  He quoted 450 out the door, BUT, he said, this is not a permanent fix.  Another car is in your future he warned.
And so, I have the car back, it is running as promised, and so far, so good.  I am shopping.  The experience was the best.  The shop is the best, and the owner is incredibly honest, reliable, and fair.  I cannot say enough about this business.  If you need work, these are the people to see.

I hade the same problem.
Response from Lee County Transmissions Inc
"Id like the oppertunity to address the issue as we offer a warranty on all of our work if the car still had the same problem why was it never brought back and to our attention to give us the chance to stand behind the warranty we offer?"

Start to finish is just this....they worked on the transmission for 2 1/2 days, charged me $2338.60, and it was worse.  I took it back and they researched again for any additional problems.  I ended up taking it back to Lee Co. a 3rd time,at which they rented a veh for me from Enterprise.  They are now re-building my trans completely using another trans for parts, and assured me there would be NO ADDITIONAL charge!!  This makes all the inconveniences worth the trouble.  I should be getting my van back by this Wednesday!!
Response from Lee County Transmissions Inc
"Thank You, We appreciate the oppertunity we were given to earn your business and hope we have another loyal life long customer. Your van was a tough one for us as we were pretty frusterated we created an inconvieniance for you but glad we were given the oppertunity to correct the problem and have you leave feeling good about your repairs. Thanks again - Shawn Wilkinson."

After they gave it a thorough look over, Sean who was the technician told us that we wouldn't need a new transmission but rather a new motor mount. When we heard this our mouth dropped. He was so totally honest with us and could have up sold us into a new transmission which would have cost upwards of $2,000. Very grateful to know there are honest people out there. I will bring more work to them soon.
