The AC was running OK but while brushing off the pad I noticed the line filter looked bulbous, very rusty and looked like could fail any minute. I usually would call my regular people that I consider pricey and I saw an ad in the paper which said Free Service with repair so figured I'd save a service call and there was also a coupon for $29.95 for a Maintenance Check which I figured I needed. I checked Angie's List and they had an A rating so I called them. Everything went just fine until the Tech guy got here and he said since my AC was running fine, I have to also pay the service call (which I think he said was $89). Since I was having the repair anyway I was ticked about the service call but the was here and I had company coming to stay over a week, I said go ahead. The price he quoted was an overall quote of $374.95 where I had expected to pay $200-$250 at most. You can find liquid line filter driers on Amazon for about the $24-$43 range of this size. So, if you double the price for retail and say they charge $85, then you have $100 for the service charge. They charged the following 4 Items: Install new 3/8 Liquid Line Filter Drier - $185.00; Balance Sub Cool / Superheat - $25 (I have no idea what this is.); Maintenance tune up special from newspaper - $29.95 (as I said I wanted); Evacuate system of all gas from contaminants or burnout - $135 (I,ll just assume the refrigerant need to be replaced.). Anyway, I think the service charge was in there and the tech's overall price did not explain the two extra items. I paid the Tech with my credit card, he used his phone and he said they would sent a receipt. I waited for the receipt about 5 days then called them a girl there finally emailed me the receipt, so I printed it out with the 4 items above. I final complaint. The new line filter looked fine, so I was glad about that but the next day I noticed two wires coming from my condo going to the compressor unit were completely outside the unit and both lines had wire nuts. The nuts were face up, so water could settle in them about an inch of the mounting slab, so I didn't like this. The wires were long enough and I pushed them in under the compressor unit as best I could and also turned the wires so the wire nuts should shed water rather than trap it. I'd like to do something permanent for the wires and keep them "inside" the unit out of the weather, but I'm not sure yet what I'll do. Also, I want to mention that the line filter was outside the unit in the rain, etc., so that probably why is rusted so bad. No other units has one outside and I don't know if it's possible to put is inside out of the weather but this is where the Tech put it, back where the other one was, so I bought some spray primer and enamel Rust-Oleum paint to try to make it last longer.
Response from Island Aire

"Mr [Member Name Removed], thank you very much for your feedback. I apologize your experience was not to your expectation. Anytime acid is present in the system due to compressor burnout it is best practice to evacuate, recharge, and balance the charge. The restriction in your filter drier was probably the cause of this. We strive for providing proper service to our customers and not addressing this in full would have caused problems in the future. If you review your invoice the charge for the filter drier is within the range of what you stated in your review, but the other services were needed to do the job properly to protect the systems future operation. I do apologize that this was not better communicated to you at time of service. I thank you for your business and we hope you will consider us for service in the future."

Marshall and Joel from Island Aire did a great job at replacing my central A/C unit. They arrived on time and worked nonstop until the job was completed. They did a great job at fixing some annoying items that the last installers and the original design left lacking. They were very professional and took the time to discuss the install with me along the way. They did a great cleanup job and explained the system operation completely. Island Aire provided all the correct components to their install team and handled the scheduling and communications perfectly. I was referred to Island Aire by Lowes who managed the job at a high level. There are many outfits serving the Naples area who will install cheaper systems for less. If these jokers even show up you will get what you paid for - a cheap contractor grade A/C and sloppy workmanship. Good luck with those A/C systems as they will likely fail early and often. A smart consumer will stick with people like Island Aire to get a quality system at a fair price.

Fantastic! A crew of 4 worked 12 hours to finish the job in 1 day. The house has never felt this comfortable. My cost included a total ductwork redo (correctly this time - unlike Gulf Shore Cooling) and a 10 year parts and labor warranty.

Had our A/C replaced by Island Aire. This company's price was 20% higher than another quote for the same system. They said the reason for the price difference was because their technicians were better trained and because they provided better service. We fell for this and felt extremely pressured by their sales person, I would compare it to a car sales experience. Here we are a little over a year and multiple service calls later on our new unit and I know I made the wrong choice. One technician says we are having problems because it wasn't installed right and another technician because we didn't have it professionally serviced every 6 months. So if you want to over pay and get terrible service this may be the company for you.

Island Aire had to reschedule at the last minute do to a family emergency on the part of the tech.  The handled this well and when the new scheduled date arrived, they confirmed the time, and arrived as expected.  The tech was knowledgeable and appeared very competent.  In addition to inspecting and cleaning our 13 year old system, he discussed some of its shortcomings that newer systems offer for when we need to replace this unit....but he was not pushy, mostly pointing out emerging issues I could see and discussing them.

The representative who serviced my heat pumps was courteous, professional, and neat. He performed the unit checks quickly and efficiently and gave me a report on any problems that he noticed. I am going to engage the company to perform yearly inspections of my units.

These folks understand customer service. PRIOR COMPANY:  I purchased the 2-1/2 ton unit 7 years/2 months prior and had nothing but problems with the PREVIOUS company, including a technician creating a problem with the unit that almost burned my house down.  I had to absorb the cost of their failures. And the fact that I purchased a high end unit didn't mean anything because of the poor installation/services.
I called Island Aire after seeing the reviews here.   I am very glad I did.   The sales person, Brad, was very polite, honest and understanding, an all around good guy!   He never bashed the other company, he offered good suggestion and provided me with every option I asked for in a quote.   He did not pressure me in any way.   I am happy to give Island Aire our business.   Brad explained how involved the owner of Island Aire is, and that, after my prior experience, has become very important to me.
The prior service company is nationwide, but so are their complaints with the BBB.   Island Aire has a very clean record and an owner who wants to keep it that way.   GO ISLAND AIRE!!!  You've got my support and recommendation!   For those who want to know who NOT to call - avoid Service Experts.  They will take you on a bad bad ride that won't be cheap.

The technician was prompt and courteous. However, I was not present for the whole time he was working on the unit and when I came outside  he walked from his truck with an old part that could or could not have come from my unit and said it was defective. He then quoted me and additional $138 for a $50 dollar part. I had already paid $49 up front for a service call and felt this was paying extra when I had already paid up front for a service call and diagnostic which should have included the labor since he was only there about 35 minutes.
Since I felt the unit stopped cooling due to a power surge, it is possible the unit was not defective and needed only a reboot. It comes down to trust and I am hoping I was not duped. That is a terrible feeling.
