Here's my story. Contacted home tech, my refrigerator was not getting cold enough. Sent tech out to diagnose issue, $179. Tech said I need a thermostat and a main control board, I was quoted a price to replace the parts $666.35. I gave the ok to fix. The next day a different tech showed up to install the parts, so far everyone has been very nice, new parts installed, no change. I even gave it till the next morning to make sure but no change, not cold. Called Home tech and told the girl my refrigerator was not fixed after spending $845.00. No, I'm sorry to hear that, she just said there will be parts and labor costs. Frustrated I said ok, she said she could get someone out between 6 and 8pm on a Friday, I said ok. A third tech showed up and I told him what was going on and he immediately said that I was low on refrigerant but he would look into the problem. He discovered that the condenser fan was not running and I said it has been running the whole time up until the parts were replaced. He looked further and found that tech #2 did not plug in one of the connections to the main board tight, he snapped it in and the fan came on, but he said that did not solve the problem. He got a tool from his truck and added some refrigerant and things got cold immediately. So I told the tech, Carlos, that I kept the old control board and could you remove the new one and install the original one, he did and everything worked as it should. I did not need a new control board. He took the new board back with him to return and tell management what happened. It was Memorial day on Monday so I waited till Tuesday to hear from Home Tech regarding the issue. I heard nothing for days so I e-mailed them a complete description of the misdiagnosis and that I would like to be reimbursed for the main control board that I did not need, heard nothing. Called them and got transferred to Chucks voicemail and I stated that he should look at the e-mail and to please contact me. Nothing. I wasn't going to play a game of phone tag since they were obviously not interested in doing the right thing for a customer but they texted me over and over trying to sell me a appliance warranty plan. I contacted my credit card company. Still haven't heard from Home Tech. It's a shame, I picked this company to do my refrigerator repair because it's a family business, and it's a shame that there's no customer service here. Jim M Invoice #1271125. May 21, 22, 23, 2025

Six months ago, Home-Tech over-billed me close to $2k, without any refund despite constant promises (issue varied over time: original over bill of $850 grew with multiple deliveries to $2k then $1K) Be very cautious giving your credit card as they not only used mine without permission, but they claimed that as their right. They frequently promise refund (again last week), but change their minds offering litany of specious excuses. Bottom line: they overcharged me $2k, and evade my attempts to get a refund. They also blatantly misused my credit card claiming they had that right. Key player=Timothy VanMeter (Appliance Sales Manager - 239-433-3344 X242). As requested resolution, billing department promised last week to return around $1K. If they deliver, I will accept it as “close enough.” Since they constantly renege, I ask that they stick to the promise this time. The had also said the Company CEO, would call to hear my full complaint. I still desire this.

HomeTech replaced our evaporator coil in Sept 2021. Worked fine until early May 2022. They have had 5 different technicians out over the last 5 weeks. Each has diagnosed a different problem, each pointing back to the system being overcharged by 5lbs of Freon when the coil was replaced. They quoted a price for repairs that would cover the parts under warranty but not the labor. The labor that they did. We got a second opinion from another provider who agreed that not only did the overcharge lead to the failures but also that the freon installed during the coil replacement was contaminated. Their quote to do the work HomeTech recommended was $300 less. Their quote to do the repairs that they thought were needed was roughly the same price. 5 technicians, 5 misdiagnosis in 4 weeks. Each pointing back to the previous technicians incompetence… “he should have done this”…. “Not sure how he missed that”…. Don’t bother talking to Chuck Williams, Ryan, or Tom Rode. None are willing to provide any customer support or come to a reasonable agreement. EG… when we requested Ryan provide us with our service history file it was not delivered in the time he indicated and, when I followed up, his justification was that the person responsible for fulfilling such requests was out of office, had no back up, it would take another week and, while he had the systemic access to the records, he was “not going to do it.” Further, Ryan was also unwilling to price match for the work HomeTech said was needed to repair the damage that they caused. Do NOT do business with HomeTech. If I could give them zero or negative stars I would. I repeat, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HOMETECH. -Stephen Brooks

"Thank you for the feedback. We did have 5 techs come out between 05/05/22 and 05/20/22, however each visit after the initial one was no charge to you, of course. Often times an issue with a complex HVAC system could be any number of things. With some issues, you arrive at the solution through a process of elimination. And I apologize, but we don’t price match."

Do not purchase any sort of Service Agreement from Home Tech. They do not honor their contracts and try to deceive their customers. I purchased Service Agreement from Home Tech about a year ago. Working with them on service has been a nightmare. First of all, we paid almost $800.00 for an annual service agreement that covered all of our appliances, AC and Pool heater. We purchased the Home Agreement while getting our refrigerator serviced and was told that since we were getting an agreement that we would get a discount on that service and the parts. Needless to say, after two months of arguing with Home Tech, we did not get our discount nor were the parts replaced on the fridge.... thankfully they were not imperative parts. They basically said in order for them to honor the discounts they would have to come back out and re-do the service call....and yes, charge another service call fee... Then, we get a call stating that the parts they ordered were incorrect, even though we stated we did not want the service,...so they had to come back out anyway... And yes, that we would now get the discount. So we set an appointment... then they called stating they did not need to come back out after all and would call when the parts were in... But, when they called to set up the appointment to install parts they wanted to charge full price again. We declined. Now, almost a year later we need to get three appliance serviced, Dishwasher, Dryer and Pool Heater. The appointment scheduling went fine, except for them quoting $99.00 for the first "call", and $59.00 for the other two calls....yes each appliance counts as a "call". I didn't think anything of it until i pulled out my contract and say the "call" price was supposed to be $49.00... I figured i would just show the tech when they arrived. However, the morning of the appointment i get a call stating that the pool heater would not be covered under the agreement and it would be 39.00 every 15 minutes they are servicing it? When i questioned this they representative could not be bothered and stated she would cancel the appointment and send me over to contracts to discuss... I asked for a manager and she said she was cancelling the appointment and would send me over to contracts... it was like she was a robot... I decided to hang up and call back for a manager... the rep kept calling me back stating she was cancelling my appointment... i had to tell her to stop calling me so i could make my call. Then, when i was finally able to call Home Tech back un-interrupted, and asked to speak with a manager, i was sent over to a voicemail... Needless to say i was finally able to get through to a Manager... The manager, who was also not very understanding said i was overreacting and had not clue why i was so frustrated. However he stated he would "look into" the contract issue with the pool heater and honor the pricing on our contract for the service calls... So, an $800.00 annual service contract with Home Tech gets you nothing but frustration, poor service and additional out of pocket costs. Stay Away!

Shady business practices: Home-Tech, Totally took advantage of my 95 year old mother I write this because I really believe that Home-Tech ripped off my 95 year old mother. Their unfair and shady business practices show their real character and what they think about their customers. My mom who has actually been a long term customer of Home-Tech and has done business with them for many years. She recently needed a new home air conditioner and purchased it from the people who she had been doing business with over many years, Home-Tech. After a year and a half the air conditioner broke down. Of course right after the warranty ran out. Well OK, parts are covered, we just have to pay the labor to replace the MAJOR COMPONANTS (Blower motor and Module) of her air handler, the part of the unit that is in the attic. Here is where the shady part comes into play. Their first trip was to diagnose the problem and they charged her by charging her a trip charge, $159.00 and then so much, $35 for every 15 minutes thereafter. Again OK it was after hours and it is the middle of July (2017) but it still wound up being $194.00 to tell her that they sold her something defective. They spent a total of 35 minutes at her house FOR $195.00. That includes arriving, set up, diagnosis, and paperwork and clean up, everything 35 minutes, $195.00. Pretty high but OK. Now that they know what’s wrong they say it was going to be another $389.00 to replace the defective blower motor and the module. So that was kinda of a hard pill to swallow considering of the age of the unit, but it was the middle of July and my 95 year old mother needed air condition. So OK (again) go ahead. I thought it was an obscenely high price and said so. She asked to make sure she was only paying the labor portion and not parts because it was so high. We talked and I picture the tech coming to her home and having to work in the furnace of the attic, struggling to replace the motor. With their service rates are $159.00 trip charge and $35.00 for every fifteen minutes thereafter. I figure the price is so high because he is going to have to spend a couple of hours up there. BOY WAS I WRONG!! He spent just 10 minutes repairing her unit and 20 minutes on everything else (set up, clean up and paperwork) so $389.00 for 30 minutes!!! I thought what the heck is going on here. So I called. I was not able talk to anybody but I was able to leave a message for the Service Manager, Ryan Thibaudeau and waited for a call back. Well no call back that day so I decided to go by the office to discuss my concerns. I was able to speak to Ryan and he apologized that he was too busy to call me back but we could talk about my concerns. I asked for his help in understanding the charges and maybe some assistance for my 95 year old mother who has been a long term customer of theirs. We spoke about what happened and all of a sudden it changed from hourly rates to a Flat Rate to change the parts. That was the first time anybody said anything about the change of rate from trip/hourly to flat rate. Really $389.00 for 30 minutes of work. Well not really, again we need to talk about set up, clean up and paperwork. My mother said he was in the attic for less than 10 minutes. If someone, anyone had said it was a flat rate charge of $389.00 for the work I would have defiantly shopped that price. It sounds like they are charging me for the parts too. He said he could not do anything for me but he would talk to his manager and call me back the following day with their decision about my request for assistance. So I waited for Ryan to call back. The next day goes by and I guess Ryan is too busy to call me back again. At the end of the next day Ryan called me back and said he had talked to Tom Rohde the General Manager and they decided that there was nothing they would do about their charges and that the charges would stand. I told him I was unhappy and that I was not going to be silent about this and his response was to tell me that the President of Home-Tech thinks they did not charge her enough… What? Really? Didn’t charge her enough? What kind of business are they running here? I dare say if they would do that type of business practice to my 95 year old mother, they are doing it to others too. Buyer Beware!! Home-Tech is Shady and should not be trusted. Shame on you Home-Tech. Do not do business with this shady company, but if you do don’t let them rip you off like they did my 95 year old mother.

"Thanks for the feedback. This entire repair would've been covered at no charge if our customer had renewed the Service Agreement. We provided emergency service at 9:20 pm, acquired the part, and installed it - all under 24 hours. After hours service call fee is $159 (our service call during normal hours is $99) and $35 for additional diagnosing labor. We have additional labor in this type of warranty replacement, trip to local Trane distributor to get the part, return trip to the home to install, employee work to file for warranty, and returning motor to the distributor. That's why we have the flat-rate pricing. We are upfront with the cost of our services and they were agreed to beforehand. We always strive to provide the best service possible."

When I called, they were willing to come out immediately, but it was around 8om, so we scheduled first thing in the morning. They came out and brought a new microwave as a precaution in case it was the microwave itself which wasn't working. Once they did the inspection, it was found to be my 25 year old microwave that was the problem. I paid them for the new microwave (which I later discovered was $400.00 alone WITHOUT installation or delivery) and they were in and out quickly and efficiently. It's generally a pain to come out to Sanibel, but they did so with no extra charges or hassle. They do all sorts of appliance repair, including HVAC and water heaters and I will continue to use them in the future because they are efficient and reliable.
