DSI Marine Construction / Dock Savers Inc

Sales man stated that they would install a plastic panel where the new seawall & old met because the toung was broken off & it would then be filled with concrete. The panel was NEVER installed and it was puttied with **** hydraulic cement 4 times. A 4" hole was to be cut in one panel for a drain pipe, I was told this was to be done with a CHAIN SAW, this was NEVER done. The job started 3/23/2018 I was told that smaller equipment was to be used and plywood would cover the decorative stone lawn, "You would not even know that we were here". THEN heavy equipment was brought in, the plywood was inadequate and has to be removed before the panels were set. Consequately every thing was tore up.The permit expired (6 Months later) a new permit was issued and after repeadily digging up to replace filter material that were improperly installed or not installed at least 5 times and backed filled each time. As of 4/14/2020 there are 5 areas where the ground is currently washed out & pavers sinking, requiring the ground to now be stabalized the voids to be filled in and the pavers removed and re installed for a second time, all because the work was not properly done. I have now consulted an attorney and DSI has refused to respond to any one.

I called and they said they would come out at the end of the week, or the beginning of the next. I did not hear from them, so I called again. The office employee said I should get a call shortly. This happened 4 times over the next week. I hired someone else, but as of today (5weeks later), they have not called.

They did quality work. After the fact, I noticed an electrical problem that had not been there previously. After they were alerted to the issue by Angie's List, DSI came out and fixed the issue.

Was low bid, worked with me on design, very knowledgeable, and friendly.  They were booked out two months so had to wait but they did a beautiful job building this very large boat dock.  I would definitely recommend. 

Prior research was worth it. The contract is pretty broad so it would be a good idea to be specific as to what you expect. I specified that all of the lift pilings had rebar installed . It is a good idea to have the initial consultation done at low tide.Jose did the work and I found him to be knowledgeable and conscientious.

The first time I called (11/22/13) I talked to Vincent who gave me a competitive and reasonable price on 12' bunks including installation.  Vince said he would have to order them and it would take a week to get them.  He then asked about the condition of my stainless steel brackets, which appear to be in good shape.  Vince said it would best for him to stop by on Saturday to check the lift before ordering the bunks.

Shortly after the call, he sent me an e-mail thanking me for contacting Doc Savers and detailing what to expect next.  I then received a second e-mail the same day providing information on the boat lift maintenance programs.  I was very impressed and very glad I contacted them.

Vince never showed up on Saturday to inspect the lift and since that day (11/22/13), I have repeatedly contacted the company leaving voice mail messages for Vince to contact me to reschedule the inspection and to get the bunks ordered and installed.  I have even talked to 2 different customer support people explaining my frustration about the difficulty in doing business with Doc Savers.  Both assured me they would get my contact information to Vince and have him get back to me.  It's now 12/12/13 and I have not yet received a call back.

Based on my experience, they rate an "F" and I do not recommend doing any business with Doc Savers! 

Bill is amazing.  Very professional, always available, and expedient beyond belief.  He is a perfectionist, also.  After his crew was finished, he inspected the numbers of stainless steel screws placed and had the crew return to put in twice as many.  I was surprised how quickly they got to the project to begin with.  This is a busy company, and my job was little compared to most of their work.

I had my mother's dock repaired for a Valentine's day gift.

I shopped about a dozen marine construction providers to find the right company to build a dock and boat lift in the canal behind my home here in Fort Myers, and met Bill Stephen, owner of Dock Savers at the Fort Myers Boat Show this November. The Neptune lifts he installs really caught my eye-beautifully engineered stainless steel and aluminium lifts with the best warranty in the business. He assured me he would build me the best dock and lift, so I included him in the 4 providers I got formal estimates from. I'm so glad I did. His prices were in line with the others, but his dock design and the quality of the lift sold me so I went with him. I had heard from members of my boating club that he did great work.
Boy, were they right. His crew was highly professional and extremely good at what they did. They went out of their way to make sure every screw, nail and bracket (all stainless steel by the way) was perfectly installed. They beveled the edges on the deck boards and the tops of the pilings, tapered the struts UNDER the dock, and made deck board cuts around the pilings so tight and neat you couldn't have gotten a piece of paper between dock and piling. The owner and his son were at my property often to make sure the job was done right, and it was. They came back to make sure the lfit was working perfectly and made adjustments for me at no extra charge. His crew told me they liked working for Bill because "he was honest and he wanted them to do the best job possible without cutting corners." Everyone who has seen the dock and lift has marvelled at how beautifully done it was. I don't think there's a better dock and lift builder out there, I'm really happy with the project.

Arranged for an appointment at my house to review needed dock repairs.  Two people from the company showed up and expressed an interest and showed me examples of other jobs.  They said they would provide an estimate to refurbish the dock but four weeks later I have not been provided a price.  Have emailed them with no response received.  I have other estimates provided to me in a day or two from other vendors.  So based on not receiving any correspondence from this company it appears that they would probably be unreliable in providing an appropriate job. 

The entire project went smoothly and professionally, the dock and lift showed so well that we were asked by the material supplier"s "Tuff Dock" and "AZEK" to have a photo shoot of the back of our home displaying the dock and boat lift. These were used for display boards during the Miami Internal Boat Show, Feb.2010 and boat shows through out the year.  The dock still shows as aesthetically appealing three years later!

The work came out beautiful!  They performed the work according to our
agreement and in a timely fashion. Very professional and courteous. I
would use them again for any of my home repairs.Highly recommend!

The Stephans were great to work with.  Bill even took our boat and put it in one of his docks while the work was going on.

Dealing with the father/son co-owners felt like a news story of someone taking advantage of a senior citizen. Another scam, the subcontractors were the only reason this fiasco didn't end up in a legal mess. The father continually tried to verbally bully me and in the end he still didn't adhere to the written contract.
