Overall, the bathroom looks very nice, but there were tiles that were cut instead of using whole pieces so it looks a bit pieced together. Even though the room looks great, the shower is the main concern, and that area was not installed properly.
Description of Work: We hired Jay Meinke Remodeling to remodel our master bathroom. He was not punctual, he did not complete the work in a timely manner, and he did not complete the project correctly. The shower floor had water leaks from Day 1. After multiple calls and texts to Jay over the next several months, he finally returned to check out the problem. He replaced a few of the floor mosaics and left. The shower continued to leak. Again, after multiple tries to contact Jay, he returned and sealed the area where the wall meets the floor with clear acrylic sealer. He did not wait for the area to dry out first. He also sealed around the built-in bench seat with white caulk that smeared onto the the floor grout. We did not notice any more leaking, but now we have hired a different contractor to find out why we had the leaks in the first place, as the acrylic seal came loose and we have leaks again. The new contractor found that the bench seat was installed improperly-Jay used wood inside the seat and built the ceramic tile and granite bench seat on top of the wood. There is about an inch of standing water inside the floor of the bench seat as well as mold all inside and up the wall behind it. When the new contractor pulled tiles from the opposite wall, there is water soaked up that wall into the wall board about 18 inches. We now have to pay to have this shower re-done because it was not installed properly to begin with. The pan has to be replaced, because Jay also put screws too close to the floor, which left an open area for more water to leak through. The floor has to be re-poured as well. We would NOT recommend Jay Meinke Remodeling to anyone looking for a contractor.
