This used to be a Weston-automatic choice for auto repair, but even our butcher at the local Publix has had it with them. Several months ago they did a standard oil change on my car and forgot to put oil in it! They offered all kinds of service and discounts to make up for it but I would never return at any price after that.
A few months ago my mother-in-law said that she didn't feel right about the service they recommended for her car, which she drives mostly to church and back.
Strike three for this company came on September 4th when they SOLD my wife a tire she didn't need. I had pulled a screw out of my wife's tire the night before and plugged the hole with my last remaining plug. The plug held overnight, but because it was older I asked her to have it checked. Unfortunately, she went to the and quot;old family standardand quot; Weston Auto and Tire and they talked her into a new tire.
They could see that it's already been successfully plugged, but because of the dry plug it probably looked like somebody didn't know what they were doing and they jumped on the opportunity. They don't do plugs, they said, but of course that's because it cost 25-cents and takes a minute so they won't be able to make any money. I'd like to know how they could not patch a screw-puncture in a newer tire, inside the tread (not on the side)?
Their excuses when I called and accused them of taking advantage of a woman - which seemed to be my mother-in-law's issue - were along the lines of and quot;well we don't plug puncturesand quot; and and quot;I only recommended a new tire...and quot;. They told her they didn't and quot;recommendand quot; a patch. The screw was about 1/2 inch inside the tread, not on the side or anything, and the tire was newer. Of course I understand why they don't plug punctures - it would not be worth their time since it requires a 25-cent plug and takes two minutes - no money in it for them!
The real problem, I believe, is that when ownership changed a couple of years ago they lost their professionalism. We know a lot of people in Weston, and I'm surprised at how many feel that this place is no longer honest or professional. We're not happy, even our Publix butcher isn't happy, and more and more of our neighbors aren't happy.
