I have two pools and had them both serviced by Twin Lakes Pool. First, you can never reach anybody by phone or never get a call returned. They are terrible with communications. The only way I was able to get some answers, not all, was by email. When I had a problem seeing my pump not work correctly and the pool cleaner not working, I could not reach anybody for a month. Then I tried catching the pool guy, which was quite a challenge. He pretty much ran the whole time, barely brushed an edge of the pool while half sprinting and jumping, and then he was gone. No luck there. I told Twin Lakes of this, but no response, except that they would send someone else, which I don't know if they did. The problem never got fixed and I gave up trying to contact anybody after two month and changed service to a different company, which works great. I think they have too much business and can't really handle it well. The managers don't communicate, explain or apologize for anything. I have used them for repair work on my pool in the past few years and they are doing a pretty good job there, the guys were always professional, knowledgeable and nice. Unfortunately, not the same for the pool service.

We had a rough go at first with the pool guy assigned to us but Earl and the staff at Twin Lakes Pool have taken care of the situation and made it right. We love our new guy, Marco, and couldn't be happier with the service since the change. Twin Lakes Pool is easy to do business with and will make it right if there is ever an issue.

We have since been assigned a new pool guy, Hector, and he is great. Couldn't be happier with Twin Lakes Pool.

Very friendly and professional staff. Construction lasted about 61 days from start to finish. Whenever there was an issue or a question, no matter how small it was, they addressed it immediately. It was a pleasure working with all of them. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Fantastic. Earl and his team were fabulous. They worked on our project just about every day the weather allowed. When they used subs- they were long time associates and the Twin Lakes team checked on them every day. It was a major project that required special materials and the Twin Lakes team got er done and done right. We interviewed and recieved quotes from many companies. Twin Lakes was the most complete estimate and very reasonably priced for the scope of work.
If it has to do with your pool, Call Twin Lakes. They are the only ones I would reccomend!

Pool Patches were fine. As for the weekly pool service, extremely poor. My pool turned green 2x in less than a month because their poor service. I had to call them multiple times stating that there were issues. The filter looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month and I had yellow and green stuff on the sides of the pool as if they were not brushing anything. I started maintaining my pool myself and it's finally swimable and back to blue. It's costs me over $100 in 2 weeks of for the chemicals alone to reverse the mess they made. Stil more work to go
When I called to cancel my services, they offered to send me a better pool tech. Does that mean they know who I had was bad? I'm no pool tech or professional but my pool looks 100x better than when they were working on it.

When I came back from holiday, I noticed that the pump had been running dry. It had probably been like this for weeks. It created low pressure and I should have done something then, but I didn't since it was still working a little bit. Now, it has completely gone out. I called them and they said they would send someone out to check it out, but it would cost $89. I told them it was a diagnostic call, but they insisted on charging me. The conversation ended with the lady on the phone saying to then go somewhere else.
Response from TWIN LAKES POOL & SPA

"We serviced the swimming pool from June 2010 until August 2010. We replaced the pump in November 2010 with a 1 year warranty and customer called in April 2012 and said his motor was not working. He stated that is was our responsibility since we serviced the swimming pool back in 2010. We have not been to property in almost 2 years. Customer then stated the motor was bad ever since then and he has been too busy to contact us. Twin Lakes Pools told homeowner it's an $89.00 service call to go out to the property to see what is wrong and that will get applied to labor if homeowner wanted the motor fixed. He declined and said come out here for free it’s your fault. Again we explained we have not been there since 2010 and clearly stated we are sorry we cannot do a free service call. We cannot be responsible since we have not been there in almost 2 years. Any question we can answer please feel free to call at 954-434-5700"

They came out right on time. They were very complete and professional with their presentation and everything. It wasn't bad. Their price was a little higher. It wasn't reasonable, and I didn't use them. They wanted to sandblast my pool, but they didn't have what I was really having leeway with then. I just didn't want to have that done. Other than that they were pretty good.

I called on a Thursday and explained my situation: The DE filter on my pool wasn't working well, and that I already had a written estimate for the service, so I wanted Twin Lakes to give me their estimate. I was told someone would call me back later that day to arrange for an appointment, but no one called me back. On Friday I called again and this time was able to schedule someone to come out on Saturday. On Saturday the service guy called me on his way to the house---I wasn't home but he said he could do the job without me being there. I explained again that I needed an estimate for fixing the filter. He offered to also give me an estimate for weekly pool service. When I got home I found a note that explained that the filter wasn't working but that a repair man would have to come out again to determine what was wrong. There was no estimate for the pool repair. They were closed until Tuesday and I called back then. This time, a woman explained that Twin Lakes will not give these kinds of estimates. She said I would have to pay for a service visit, which was something like $119. (I have by now had two other companies give this estimate: One did so for free, and the other charged $41). At that point, I just had to ask: and quot; Why did Twin Lakes tell me over the phone they would do the estimate, and even send someone out to my house, who wasn't prepared to inspect the filter?and quot; The woman was not exactly rude but was unwilling to discuss this with me---I could either pay for the $119 service visit, or go somewhere else. She went on to say that any pool service company that would agree to come to my house, inspect my filter, and give an estimate for a repair was unprofessional. I asked to speak to the manager of Twin Lakes, and she initially tried to imply that she was in charge, but when pushed admitted that she was not the manager. She took my information and said that the manager would call me back. No one called me back.

Having done a lot of comparison shopping about this, I was really surprised to learn that Twin Lakes charges much more than any other company in my area. Their fees for labor are 2-3 times more than their closest competitor. Their charges for parts were unbelievably high: For example, in pricing out the costs for simply replacing the filter, I was able to find places that charged $200 or $300 less than Twin Lakes. It also turns out that my pool filter problem was so simple that a competent, honest company could have figured it out over the phone---once I finally got on Angie's List and narrowed down reputable companies, all of them said that the model filter I owned was off the market due to a defect. Apparently Twin Lakes was either willing to charge me $119 for a unnecessary service call, or they were incompetent about this problem that five other companies recognized immediately over the phone.

I actually would not have posted this negative review had the manager actually bothered to call me. It's been my experience that whenever the owner/manager of a business won't talk to you, then it's best to stay away. If you're too busy to deal with customer service or don't want to be bothered with an upset client, that's a bad sign.

I ended up going with Leslie's Pool and Spa. It's a few blocks away, everything is cheaper, the manager (Linn) was helpful, and he got everything fixed within one day.

Weekly service is performed, but not to spec and they rush in and rush out. They cut a lot of corners. I don't spend a fortune, but feel like I'm not getting what I'm paying for and leading me to look elsewhere.
