Southern Textures of Florida

We contracted them to remove the popcorn ceiling and then apply knockdown texture to the ceilings. I have posted pictures to show how they left the house. There many other cracks and peels that I did not bother to take pictures of because it was more of the same. The contract states that you might get some paint that peels here and there (which is understandable) but they used the wrong kind of tape which almost surely peels off paint. SO we have huge strips of missing paint on the walls. After contacting them multiple times to have them come out and finish the job, I finally had enough of chasing them. The last time we spoke, Dave, the owner, said he was going to get back to me the same day to let me know when they were coming. That was May 22nd; I am still waiting. The owner has replied to this review on other sites by saying that this isn't his paint job on the ceiling. Of course it is! This is his job, his paint, his contractors. It's ridiculous to imply that I did this paint job. I have a full-time job and absolutely no time or interest in doing any of this work myself. That is why I paid someone to do it. I thought that he would at least be able to own up to it. after all, he knows what the truth is. I have all his texts to back this up.

So Disappointing. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE FULL OF EMPTY PROMISES. RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION. Where do I start. Job secured on January 31, promised to start Feb 1. Supposed delays in drywall shipment, so they would start Feb. 5. No one showed up. Feb 13 Someone came to start work. Was told everything would be done in 3-5 days. I check on the progress every day of every week and I text every day of every week. They are now 11 Weeks into this project AND IT IS STILL NOT DONE. They promise every week they will finish that week and then no or little progress is made. PROMISE AFTER PROMISE ALL OF THEM BROKEN. They have held up every other part of my build out. TERRIBLE. I call, I text, I leave voicemails. Maybe every 7-10 days I receive another promise. THEN THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD 3 TIMES WITHOUT ANY AUTHORIZATION - ILLEGAL. I have tried to be kind but right now they have cost me over 20K in charges and they are paid in full without my authorization and the job is not even close to being completed.

What can I say about David Lopez and Southern Textures of Florida? They are everything you could hope for in a company who is doing major work on your home. I hired them to replace the popcorn ceiling (yuck!) in my new home with knockdown texture, paint the ceiling, and paint the walls of the main part of my home. They got it done in three days! Unbelievable! The quality is absolutely beautiful. Also, you will not beat their prices. The crews that came to work were friendly, punctual, and so professional. I really cannot recommend this company enough! If I could rate them 10 stars, I would! I feel like my new home got a major upgrade. It's a great feeling!

Excellent! Men were A++ in protecting furniture and ceiling lighting. Ceiling was beautifully repaired when finished and on budget. Clean up was also very good. Guys were punctual and very efficient and finished on time. I can't say enough about Southern Textures. David Lopez also was a pleasure to work with and was extremely responsive on telephone and text and also throughout the job. Great experience and company! Highly recommend!

Mr. David Lopez was great to deal with. Crews were totally professional and went above and beyond. Super dedicated . We had a roof leak which led to a ceiling problem and they fixed everything. Our ceilings look amazing. Thanks!

Southern textures was hired through a contractor I was working with 9-26-17. I wrote my first DEPOSIT check of 2000.00 directly to Southern Textures (not through contractor) for "supplies" before the job was even started. They came right in and sprayed the ceilings w/o removing the old fixtures which still had popcorn underneath. Unfortunately, I soon realized that I was being taken advantage and gouged by the contractor, (Pines Total Construction) and had to let them go. (also had to hire attorney) I made sure to follow up with all the sub contractors I was paying separately to ensure they would finish what they had started. David agreed to come up and finish the job. The following week I was told that extra work had been done by his crew and that ate up the 2000.00 and the balance of 1000.00 would have to be "re estimated" I gave David 2 WEEKS after numerous calls and emails and advised him that he really should look for himself to actually see what work had been performed so that he was comfortable attaching his name to my job. He promised to personally come to the job this past thursday 11-30-17. he failed to show but texted me that he would make sure to text me (not call) to let me know when he would be there on Friday 12-1-17. Again, NO SHOW, and NO CALL. I had to hire a new painter and I now have a 2000.00 ceiling paint job in an 1100 square foot apartment!! I was given 90 days to live last feb. I have just battled STAGE 4 metastatic lung cancer for the past 16 mos... Ive had brain surgery along with so so many other very challenging treatments. Ive been through so much and had really looked forward to moving on with life! Like cancer wasn't enough of a financial devastation and now this? Dave was made aware of my situation and still chose to walk away. Its VERY VERY sad to think this is how Dave does business. I Im the to write letters, give great reviews when companies under promise and over deliver, but unfortunately this is NOT one! (didn't know I could upload pics...so will by end of day!)

I just recently purchased my first home, a townhouse, that had popcorn ceilings. I contacted several companies to get quotes to have the popcorn removed. When I got to Dave from Southern Textures , I stopped looking. Dave was so kind from the first call and very knowledgeable about the process. I received a call back within the hour with a quote. He was not only very reasonable but his work is impeccable . His guys arrived on the first day bright and early and prepped the house by putting up plastic wrap on the walls & floors. Within 8 hours all the popcorn was gone, the ceilings were sprayed with knockdown and the place completely cleaned. They came back 2 days later ( it had to sit and dry) and they primer and painted the whole ceiling. Within 6 hour they finished and the place was completely cleaned up. The only trace that they were even there were my gorgeous ceilings . There is even a sky light in the kitchen that had popcorn all the way up to the roof that they did. With all the natural light that comes in ,the ceilings make the place look bright and clean now. I can’t wait to get my walls painted next. I’m sure they will be amazing as well. • As a single parent and first time buyer, I feel very fortunate that my first experience with any kind of house project was with Southern Textures and the Owner Dave. He was just so professional and caring from the first phone call to the last. This is truly a good old fashioned, honorable company and I would recommend them to everyone – I actually did recommend them to my Mother. Thanks again for the 5 star treatment

We recently purchased a condo with popcorn ceilings. We contacted several drywall/painter companies to remove the popcorn and skim coat the ceilings. Dave from Southern Textures was not the least expensive nor the most expensive quote but definitely was the most knowledgeable about the process. His guys arrived on the first day bright and early and prepped the condo completely by putting up plastic wrap on all the walls, floors, furniture and appliances. The second day they removed the popcorn and plastered the ceilings. The third day they sanded and painted. When we arrived on the third day after the crew had left, the place was spotless and the ceilings looked beautiful. This condo has a lot of windows and is very bright and sunny, so any imperfections could easily be seen.....there were none. The ceilings look amazing. We are so impressed with the work on the ceilings, we just hired Southern Textures again to paint the whole condo...walls, trim and doors. I would highly recommend Southern Textures and am so happy that we found them!!!!

Hired this company to remove the popcorn and replace it with the new Knockdown texture in main area, but smooth ceilings in all the bedrooms. WOW is all I am going to say, super clean and perfect company to deal with. Dave the owner came out to price it and was super nice and very upfront. They took one day to remove it all, and same day to apply the new knockdown. The smooth part took a few days but came out amazing. I had 3 bids done by 3 different companies and his was best price and best services, I will recommend his company over and over.

Great job. Dave came and gave me the bid and was the nicest person, who really seemed to care about the work I needed done. I had his company remove all the popcorn, and replace it with knockdown in main area, smooth in all the bedrooms. Perfection, clean no mess. Once it all dried his crew came in and primed/painted. I would recommend this company over and over. Knockdown took 1 day, the smooth process was 3 days, and it felt less due to it being such a simple smooth process.
