Dave identified the problem, then serviced and repaired my machine in about a week. Not many people are willing to look at older machines, but he gave me an honest evaluation and charged a very reasonable price. Well worth the drive from Coral Gables!

The needle was locking up so I took the machine to the Singer Sewing Ctr on Oakland Park. They not only fixed the problem but also made the machine like new. They gave me instructions on how to keep it running right. When I got the machine home it wasn't working correctly, I was told me to bring it back and they would give it another look. Turned out it my fault, they were very nice to me, showed me what I did wrong and sent me on my way with no additional charge. I found the owner to be very knowledgeable about the machines he fixed, when I offered him the instruction book that came with the machine he said "if I needed the book I wouldn't be very good at what I was doing".

Went very well. He did a great job in servicing the machine. It works beautifully now.

I made the stupid mistake of messing with my bobbin tension which threw off my straight stitch and my zig-zag to the point I couldn't sew a straight line for more than a few inches without my thread snapping. I'd done some online research and was thinking of trying to trouble shoot it myself when I was referred to this shop by one of the ladies who works with the high end sewing machines at my local Joann Fabric Shop. I saw he had one very review on this site already and decided to give it a shot. It was well worth the $10 and peace of mind knowing my little Singer is in working condition again. He also said if it would have been more he would have told me before he performed any work because for the cheaper machines at some point its just more cost efficient to buy a new one than have it fixed and I appreciated the honesty. If I ever need repairs again I'll definitely go back.
The ONLY thing that made me hesitate going to him is not knowing what his hours were since he doesn't have a website and Angies List/ Google Search didn't show one, but for Everyone's reference they're open 10-6pm M-F and I think 10-3 on Saturday :) Happy Sewing!

They are fantastic. My wife worked for a thrift shop and they would get donations of sewing machines. She would take them over to make sure that they worked and he would check them out free of charge. We bought a sewing machine and had him refurbish it for us. If the machines from the thrift store need work, he would fix them up for us really inexpensively and we'd be able to sell them for the charity we were supporting. He was very friendly. He was very honest. He would check things out and tell us if it was worth fixing or not. He was very honest about that, he wouldn't take anything. We'd offer him the sewing machine but he would refuse because he wanted all the money we were making to go to the charity we were supporting. The only thing was he gave us a bunch of his cards to advertise a little bit for him. He was very gracious. He is completely honest and very, very knowledgeable and does great work. We thought his price was excellent. We thought his repairs were very, very reasonable. The one repair he did for us was very reasonably priced. He was very responsive. We'd just drop by really, and he would drop what he was doing and help us out.
