1. When I called to order service, the woman looked up my file, which goes back many years, saw that I paid $240 last year for cleaning the upstairs carpet and 2 rugs, and we agreed on that amount for the same service. 2. When the tech showed up, he wanted $460 for the work. I wasn't here, my wife objected, he called the office who told him the former tech did not charge for the rugs (not true), and today would be $460. If I had been home, I would have sent them away, but I was in court and my wife couldn't call me to verify the amount. That plus another $125 for Scotchguarding the carpet brought the cost for his visit up to $585. 3. The next day (Thursday), I called for Jim Robinson and learned that he's no longer involved with the company. "Who's the boss?" She wouldn't tell me! I then demanded a refund of the $220 charged over the agreed amount. She said another person would call back. I'll refer to the other person as "OP". 4. On Monday, I sent a certified mail demand letter to the address on the contested invoice. On Tuesday, with no response yet from OP, I spoke with a gentleman in ServiceMaster's national customer support office and explained what happened. He reached out to the new ownership and OP finally called later in the day. I repeated my request and explained why I was due the refund, "A deal is a deal". She replied, "We'll find a solution that we can all be comfortable with". 5. Long story short, after more b.s. from OP and at least three more conversations with the guy at the national office, a refund check finally appeared in our mailbox OVER A MONTH after I requested it. 6. The final irony, my demand letter was returned by the post office, unclaimed. There seemed to be no forwarding address on file. The work was excellent, however, the customer care was absent. In my opinion, OP didn't give a hoot about my situation and was not diligent about following through on the refund. If I use ServiceMaster again, it will NOT be through that office. Yes, they still answer the old phone number, but they are not people I will ever believe. There are other offices around, individually and locally owned. 5.

My microfiber, yellow sofa was a mess. Really dirty, never been professionally cleaned before. Probably 15-17 years old. I thought I might have to get rid of it.
William and his helper called to say  they were on their way. They arrived on time, were very pleasant, and got right to work. They did a fantastic job! It really looks like new again. I am so pleased. Price was as agreed upon, very reasonable. I will  use them again for sure.

The workmen from Servicemaster did all of the emptying of the master bedroom closet as there had to be a dehumidifier and fan in the closet, bathroom, bedroom and kitchen.  It took 5 days to dry and I feel that they made sure that everything was dry.  Due to the water having sewage in it, they followed the protocol for "black water".  Relieving my fears that the insurance company wasn't going to do all that they should in a loss such as this.

Anytime I had questions or needed guidance, Jim was always there to help.  His experience was invaluable.

Their price was good. My furniture was pretty dirty. They did the best they could with what they had available. It took them about 4-5 hours. I gave that furniture to my mother and she was very pleased.

I could not check the quality of work because Servicemaster packed the rug and delivered it directly to my air cooled storage unit. I told them I did not know how long the carpet would be in storage. It was there for more than a year. The rug, along with a sofa, a bed, 2 TVs and numerous boxes were brought to my home this past month. As the rug was unpacked, there was a terrible odor and orange stains on numerous surface areas. When I called to tell the company what happened, they picked up the rug and told me they would take care of the problem. I was relieved they were going to stand by their work. The carpet was returned to me this week with the stains still there. Again they picked up the rug. However, this morning I received a call that they sent it  to an expert ( I thought they were the experts) and spent more money doing that than my original cost and they were done. They were not liable nor were they going to take responsibility. I was not asking for money. This rug was very special to me and I just wanted it back in usable condition. I was told that, after the first cleaning, they kept the carpet on a fan for more than a week to make sure it was dry and that when it was delivered to storage it was dry. I was told by an insurance company that the only way this could happen is if the rug was packaged before it was totally dry. . The insurance company that covers the storage facility told me that this condition was one of the exclusions of my policy. This rug was never moved, It was not on the floor or by a wall. It was on boxes in an air cooled storage. No other items were damaged. ServiceMaster told me there was no way for them to know if the rug was actually there for the entire time, in effect intimating I was not telling them the truth. They are refusing to take responsibility, and now I have lost one of my most prized possessions because it is unusable. Please don't ever let them try to clean anything that is special to you. I am planning on taking them to small claims court.
Response from Servicemaster By Robinson
"Please allow us to clarify the actual facts regarding the member's concern. Our company picked up the member's carpet on December 12, 2012. Her carpet was cleaned and processed in our plant and returned per her direction to a storage unit located in Miami Florida on February 2, 2013.She called our office on August 14, 2014 stating that she just retrieved her area carpet from storage and it had stains on it. Generally our business position is to not give guaranties or warranties on carpet cleaning service beyond one or two days due to the fact that we have no control over how personal property is used and cared for. Given the fact that her area carpet was stored offsite from her residence out of her control and ours for sixteen months it should not place our company in a position of blame solely. Wool carpets should not be stored rolled up for a protracted period of time, natural fiber carpets need to "breath" due to sensitivity with moisture and or deterioration of the fiber. With that being said however we have reached out to the member in an attempt to reconcile this issue primarily because she is an Angie's List member. Our position is to work with her to find a win win solution in this regard."

The worker was very adept at what he had to do.  He explained what his procedure would be and estimated how long it would take.  He cleaned the rugs thoroughly and was able to remove the new problem areas as well as clean some older spotting, much of which had resulted from the usual traffic on a light carpet.  When he turned his attention to the sectional, he was very thorough.  He was very pleasant and worked very diligently.  The sectional added considerable time to his visit but he did not rush.  I am very pleased with the result, the timeliness, and the courtesy of Mr. Robinson and the worker.  I would definitely call upon them again.

A traumatic situation where a loved one died suddenly and furniture and a rug were covered in blood.  They arranged for someone to come on Sunday, to avoid ongoing trauma for me of having to continue to deal with it.  The job was done quickly compassionately and professionally and very reasonably priced.  They are true experts at what they do!

William came out to clean the carpets in two bedrooms and a hallway.  He was very professional and prompt and took care not to damage the home.  The carpets look nice.  There was one small coffee stain that he pre-treated and it mostly came out, but he explained that coffee can be a particularly difficult stain to clean.  I am satisfied that they did the best that they could.  I would definitely use them again.

I was extremely happy with the service provided by this company.  The owner and his son are hands on and the staff they employ are extremely helpful and responsible.  I could not give high enough marks for the experience of hiring this company as their service and the results they achieved were far beyond what I ever expected.  They performed the task that they promised with efficiency, they were punctual, they were professional and the issue with the lingering cigarette smell was eliminated 100% which allowed the owner of the property to quickly re-lease the apartment.   This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor or service provider and I am very grateful to Jim and Brad and Denise at Service Master by Robinson for helping my client who owns the apartment where the worked was performed.   I highly recommend Service Master by Robinson to everyone in need of smoke remediation.

Not as good as expected.  The ceiling looked worse after he cleaned it then before he cleaned it.  The smoke on the ceiling was just smeared around.  We informed the person not to clean the microwave or cabinet doors since the microwave was being replaced the next day and the cabinet doors were being refinished due to the grease fire.  Yet, he spent a lot of time on the underside of the microwave which was entirely black and got it shiny clean, unfortunately it went to the city dump the next day and was replaced with a new one.  The cabinet doors were cleaned as good as they could be, but again we told him not to clean them since we were having them refinished. The last thing he cleaned was the floor but it did not come clean, it had small spots of clean areas the rest was still dirty.  I ended up cleaning the floor with Zep industrial cleaner for ceramic tile and it came out very clean. I was disappointed to say the least.

They were really terrific and my parents were very pleased. They were very good, efficient and they got things cleaned up right away. I guess my parents were really at quite a loss as to what to do and they knew exactly what to do and how to resolve the issue.

Unfortunately we were remiss in posting this promptly, but VERY much want to tell our story.  My wife was helping pack up my mom's place after her departure to head north for the summer from Miami, when a severe thunderstorm overwhelmed the drainage of an internal atrium in her (my mom's) townhouse, and about 3 inches of water leaked into the adjacent rooms, soaking the carpet, the walls, and leaking out into the garage, this happening at night.  Servicemaster had only a couple reviews online I think, but they were positive, and were one of a few places we called.  They came out the following day, were very professional, informative, and were very detailed and thoughtful with my wife when she explained that my mom did not have insurance on the house, and were very willing to discuss the pro's and con's of all their recommendations.  They checked the place regularly, helped troubleshoot problems (blower/dehumidifier popping a circuit breaker), were detailed in their instructions to my wife.  They showed considerable integrity in checking underneath flooring which had been installed in the garage.  They'd told us that if was wet there it would be necessary to rip up the floor and had submitted an estimate, but inspected it and said that was not necessary, saving us several thousand - if they'd said they needed to go ahead, we'd certainly have never been the wiser.  We'd use these guys again in a hot second.
