Service Choice Lawn and Pest Control

This company caused thousands of dollars in damage to my lawn because of its failure to identify and treat chinch bugs. I have used this company for several years, and honestly it’s been a downhill spiral with management and with their performance in recent times. They literally destroyed my lawn by failing to identify the infestation until it was too late. When I complained, the manager promised to visit my house to inspect the lawn and address the issue. But he no showed on me. I called back and said I wouldn’t pay the most recent bill until the manager spoke to me to resolve this issue. They promised the manager would call but he never did. Then I called again and they said the would hold off on my bill until it was resolved. That was a lie: they sent it to debt collector without the manager ever contacting me. In late summer of 2024, I noticed small patches of dying grass in my lawn. I figured there must have been pests or fungus causing the destruction. I called Evergreen to report the issue, and they sent a tech to my house. The tech examined the lawn and spoke with my husband. He told my husband that there were no pests or fungus, and blamed the landscaper for cutting the grass with dull blades. Over the following weeks, more grass continued to die. Evergreen then sent a different tech who inspected the lawn. This new tech told me that I had a serious chinch bug infestation which had caused the dead grass, and that he needed to spray to kill the chinch bugs. See attached text chain. Of course, had the original tech correctly diagnosed the problem at the outset and sprayed at that time, my lawn would have been saved. The end result is that I suffered several thousand dollars of damage to my lawn due to Evergreen’s incompetence.

They do an excellent job! Super responsive and my yard has never looked better> They've changed their name to Evergreen and they seem to be doing an even better job under the new ownership.

What a disaster this company is. We are so loyal and month after month we would complain and beg them to please try to save our palms. 50% of our grass is always dead. This company has cost us $1000 In dead palm trees. Stay away.

THE INSECTS WERE NEVER KILLED AND THE WEEDS AND WILD GRASS OVERTOOK MOST OF THE YARD. CALLED SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN VISITS ASKING FOR RE-TREATMENT. EVEN AREAS THAT WERE RE-SODDED WAS LOST! ASKED FOR REFUND OF FEES, GOT NOTHING, DIDN'T EXPECT MUCH. WHEN I SUBSCRIBED TO THEIR SERVICE THE MANAGER SAID TO "LET RESULTS SPEAK FOR THE VALUE OF THEIR SERVICE." DID NOT HAVE TO LOOK FAR! TERRIBLE! SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE ATTENTION TO ANGIE'S RATING.

In May 2015, the grass in the back yard was a little brown in a couple of spots so Service Choice Lawn and Pest Control went out to evaluate and treat the lawn. The company representative was supposed to test for and then treat the grass to kill the pests that were causing the dark dead spots. Despite their posted "guaranteed pest control and fertilization services", 90 percent of the lawn is now brown. With each visit, the technician insisted that the lawn would improve after the treatment, but instead it got worse. At the second visit, the technician assured that the treatment would get better and stated that no money would be due, if positive results did not follow. They came sporadically without the homeowner's knowledge and submitted a bill despite no evidence of improvement. To date, the homeowner has been billed for 4 treatments and is left with minimal grass.
A landscape company came to give an estimate to replace the now dead grass and reported that grub worms were present and are the cause of the loss of the lawn. These were the same grubs that Service Choice Lawn and Pest Control claimed they were treating. The lawn is now going to cost $700 to replace. All of this could have been avoided, if Service Lawn and Pest Control had correctly diagnosed the issue and treated the yard as guaranteed.

SERVICE was fine UNTIL last December 2014, when after service was provided, I  noticed ant activity outside the house and called SERVICE CHOICE and requested they return to eradicate the ants. After being told by receptionist that there would be an additional $90 charge, I requested the technician to call me.  After 2 weeks I called again, and told them if I didn't hear back I would be terminating their services, and was not going to pay $45 for insect treatment, which did not work.
When there was no response, I called to cancel the service.  A month later (March 2015) the receptionist called to ask when I was going to pay the outstanding bill. I told her I had paid half and did not intend to pay the rest. She said no money was received, so I had to look up my bank receipt, and lo and behold, she THEN  found my payment.
Provider continued sending bills for full amount, and was unresponsive,  until complaint was made here at Angies. Complaint was about continued billing, after service provided was deemed unacceptable, and phone calls went un-returned.
 After complaint to Angies, owner called me, and blamed the receptionist (probably his wife). 
He did remove the small unpaid balance from the account.  
Had he or the technician simply returned last December  to complete insect control treatment, I would still be his customer.
 Instead I was told I would need to pay again for treatment that was ineffective-if it had been done at all. 
I DID NOT APPRECIATED THE RUN AROUND.
This is a poorly run business and since time I have discovered is also over priced. You can find better service for less money than this company.

Will be back again in Januray for second treatment then every other month to keep our lawn in good health.

The owner came out in person and was very good. We decided to hire his company.

The team is very responsive, professional and helpful. If I ever have questions or concerns they come by the house and explain what is happening. They have eradicated my indoor ants and have helped heal my trees that have had white fly and other issues. Their results, prices and service is outstanding

Initially, Service Choice was great. As time has gone on there service seems to be virtually useless. I hired them to replace Trugreen and I find myself frustrated by a lawn that spawns weeds by the hundreds and fails to develop in a healthy manner. I pay them to make the lawn look better and it just is not working out. I will give them about another month or so and then I will look elsewhere.

They are very reliable. I have used them for 8 years. I have been very pleased with the service. They charge $70.00 for pest control, and about $90.00 for ornamental work.

We have used them before and refer the to others. We will continue to use them.

They always call a day or two before they're coming to let you know and since I have a dog they call you before they spray so you can let the dog out beforehand.

They really know what they're doing. They know about the different pests. They do not try to sell you on multiple visits if it's not necessary.

It is kind of a new pest in the area. I had had about three other companies come out, and they did not know what they were talking about. The representative from Service Choice was extremely knowledgeable. He did not try to sell me services that I did not need. They came out and sprayed and took care of the problem. I spent $125 per spray. I don't know what anybody else would have charged because I did not let anyone else do it. They were very professional. I would definitely use them again in the future if necessary.

Excellent service. Paul, the gentleman I spoke with, was very professional and knowledgeable. My experience with this company was the complete opposite of my experience with TruGreen. TruGreen's technicians were absolutely horrible...knew very little about the science of caring for lawns. Paul, on the other hand, knows what he is doing.

Service Choice took care of a very persistent pest problem we were having in our yard, when several other firms failed to solve the problem. The technicians are very personable and trustworthy. We now use them on an ongoing basis. Very pleased with the experience and the results!

During the first appointment, they came out to evaluate the property. They are truly experts at detecting pest issues. They take their time and offer recommendations. They treat each plant and bug issue separately. I really enjoy working with them. The fellow that services my lawn has been with company for many, many years. He knows what our needs are promptly addresses them. He'll question plants, pointing out ones that may possibly be diseased, and talks with me before treating them. He treated fruit trees I hadn't noticed that may have prevented me from eating bad fruit. They make their service easy for me.

They were nice, but it was just that my yard didn’t look good. It got a lot of weeds. Their quality wasn’t that good. I called them and told them that I didn’t want their service. They did come out and looked at it promptly. I would not use them in future.

While visiting my 87 year old Mother (in Ft. Lauderdale), we were concerned at how bad her yard looked even though she had a lawn service. We hired Paul's company to maintain it on a monthly basis and it looks great. He took care of the problems and makes sure everything is the way it should be. The company is very professional and reliable. Paul also keeps an eye on the house while he's there and notifies us if he sees something that needs attending to.

My yard is brand new. My lawn looks great. They use excellent products, he treats pavers for ants and really take the time to make the work look just right. It was an immediate change from my last fertilization company.

I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY. THE QUALITY OF THE WORK THEY DO IS GOOD. THEY ALWAYS SHOW AT THE TIME THEY SAY THEY WILL. IT IS A GOOD PRICE FOR THE WORK THEY DO.

WE HAVE ONLY USED THIS COMPANY FOR A SHORT TIME. THEY ARRIVE WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL AND DO THE WORK REQUIRED. WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANOTHER COMPANY, BUT THIS ONE SEEMS TO BE RELIABLE, SO FAR. THE PRICE IS AVERAGE FOR OUR AREA.
