$3,300
We signed a contract with Reed Pool (RP) on 8-4-2021 and paid them a 10% deposit of $3,300.00 on 9-15-21. We fired RP on 1-13-22 after four (4) months of nothing but grief, frustration and aggravation. They broke their own contract with us by not supplying a set of plans, which they submitted to The City on 12/22/22 without our approval. We never received a permit. RP failed to hire a competent, responsive and responsible aquatic engineer to produce a set of plans. RP failed to follow up with the engineer on a regular basis during the 2.5 months that he was allegedly "working" on the plans. The engineer made many errors, like putting the steps in the deep end of the pool (who does that?) as well as directly lying to me that he submitted the plans to The City. When I know for a fact that he did not b/c I called The City in question to ask for the permit application number. I couldn't get that number from the engineer nor the RP rep. When I inquired about it, the engineer stopped all contact with me. I then called The City to become knowledgeable about the process and to find out the status and they informed me that no permit had been submitted at that time. RP failed to stay in communication with us (the property owners/client) on a regular basis and was unresponsive to text messages, emails and phone calls made to the rep, Fred as well as to the owner Toni. I left her a voice message to return my call, which she did not. When I finally was able to reach Toni (after 4 weeks) she said I would need to contact the rep. I replied I'm calling you b/c I've tried but he's become non-communicative with me. I might also mention when I did speak with Toni and told her who I was, she replied very shortly with me "Yeah what do you need?". As I recollect we were promised six (6) times (and that's when the RP rep responded) starting on 10-4-21 as to when the plans would be submitted to The City for permitting. This went on for 2.5 months. The last promise was made on 11-29-21 and I quote "We should have a set of plans in for permitting tomorrow". The permit was finally submitted to The City on 12-22-21. That's almost one (1) month after they were going to submit the plans and three (3) months after we paid our deposit to RP. The City contact was kind enough to walk me through how to use the online portal. At which point, I saw the online permit comments and waited for one (1) week for the RP rep to contact me. He never did so I called/texted (?) him and asked "What are we doing about these notes?" He replied I didn't want to bother you. I replied you're not bothering me and we're a team...whatever you need, just reach out. The rep Fred failed to stay on top of all of the issues at hand. RP took our deposit and we received NO PLANS, NO PERMIT, NOTHING. This was 4 months of pure ****. I just wanted to curl up in ball and cry. Who takes peoples money, gives them nothing and then just walks away without a care in the world. How does one live with that on their conscience. We wanted to hire a local, small business company to support them and that's why we went with Reed Pools Inc. It was a grave mistake. Now we are out the $3,300.00 and only have life lessons in our backyard in lieu of a pool. I tried repeatedly to work with Richard Reed in getting our money back and he replied "but we've already bought supplies". I replied well "Best business practices would tell you to not to buy supplies without a permit in hand. He didn't say anything after that. He also did not respond to voice message(s) I left on the RP's main number. What a shame. We had such high hopes for this pool and working with RP. In my humble opinion, I would not hire this company for any project. Signed, Disheartened and Disappointed.

Great company from start to finish.  Working with the owners was a pleasure.  They did a great job and we have been enjoying the pool and spa for 12 years and counting.

Richard Reed, the owner, grew up in the pool business, and he definitely cares about his reputation. It's a family-run business; his wife and son also work there. This company is well-known in the area; back in the 50s and 60s their pools were known as and ldquo;Reed Poolsand rdquo;. Richard oversees all of the work, and sometimes helps out with the work. He's very honest, approachable, and if there were any issues, he was incredibly responsive. It's definitely a grade A company.
