The contractors Lowes used for our install were excellent. They were polite, punctual, clean and finished under their time estimate.

Terrible. I signed the contact to have the work performed in September 2015, and almost 6 months later, filing a Better Business Bureau complaint and involvement of the Lowe's Executive Office the fence is still not completed.

Having measured the important dimensions of the part I needed to replace, I was able to locate without difficulty the correct replacement part in the store's plumbing department and verify its correctness by measuring the applicable dimensions with a tape measure.   The part was on a display in a store isle, and on this occasion I did not require the help of a store employee.  I completed the purchase without difficulty, using self-service checkout.  The part was suitable for its intended purpose, fit into place, and has worked without problem since I installed it.
However, that one experience is insufficient to review a store like Lowes.  General impressions from years of shopping there are more useful.  Lowes is a typical big-box hardware/home-improvement store, and this location appears to be almost exactly the same as every other Lowes.  For typical day-to-day needs for the multitude of hardware and home maintenance items one is likely to need, Lowes is very adequate.  It will usually have what you need at a price that is competitive in the general market.  Selection seems pretty good for most things, and stocking of inventory also seems good most of the time.  Although this sounds like lukewarm praise, I realize that doing the job that a store like Lowes does in a consistently competent way is an amazing achievement and testimony to the efficacy and efficiency of modern retailing.
Lowe's customer service is hit-or-miss.  If you find a salesperson in the applicable department, he or she usually can direct to to the location of the kinds of items you want.  If you have to ask the front desk to send someone to help you, more often than not nobody shows up.  Often the knowledge of salespersons is not sufficient to help you find the exact item you want or answer specific questions about it; but sometimes you get lucky and find someone who is really knowledgeable and helpful.  You have to be careful to make sure that the pieces you find in the bin or on the hook labeled as being the item you want really are that item, because customers pick up items and return them to random locations--the store could do a better job of keeping its displays properly organized.  You also have to examine packages carefully to make sure they haven't been opened previously and stripped of important parts.  And often it's difficult to determine the quality and exact features and/or specs of particular items.
We have made one major purchase at Lowes, our refrigerator.  After researching extensively in Consumer Reports and and visiting several stores, we determined that a particular Samsung model sold only at Lowes was the one we wanted.  The salesman who worked with us seemed to know everything about the merchandise in his department, and he went out of his way to be helpful.  Completing the purchase was uneventful.  Delivery was less satisfying.  The item was delivered undamaged in new condition, and following installation has worked properly (taking into account that no product as complex as a refrigerator is perfect).  But the delivery people expected me to have the old refrigerator completely empty before they arrived, with all the food getting warm and starting to spoil, because they didn't want to wait for it to be emptied.  The old unit was not emptied when they got there, so they pressured me to empty it as quickly as possible and were quite impatient about the process; however they did give me some help with the job.  They also did a poor job of leveling the unit, with the result that the door on one side tends to swing closed more aggressively than it should.  They weren't awful, just not quite good enough to make me really happy.
Generally, for day-to-day shopping, I prefer Lowes' major big-box competitor, even though its nearest store is a little farther from my house.  I think it's easier to get customer service there, and the people on the sales floor seem to be better trained and more helpful.  Also, I think I find what I want at the competitor more often than at Lowes, although I haven't done a careful comparison.  Lowes and its major competitor are both good stores and both far from perfect.  I shop often at both.  I'm happy that I have both to broaden my choices and to keep one another on their toes through competition.

They were on time, professional and provided excellent work and follow up. We did or project over 6 years ago and about 3 years ago a cabinet fell apart at the seams in the back. Lowes came with the representative of the cabinet maker, it was agreed that it was a manufacturing error, they provided a replacement and had all paint and caulking around area replaced, free of charge.

it took 6 months for the building permit to be issued which was not the contractors fault. the problems began during installation. the fence that was installed did not meet any of the building permit requirements. we only knew this because we watched the installation. the post holding the gate could not support it. two days after installation the gate started to drag the ground and the handle to open and close the gate fell off. lowes offered to correct the problems which we agreed to. the second installation followed code but did not give us the final results we were promised.

I am very satisfied with the price that I had, and they gave me a lot of discounts and everything was going right, and they way I told them to deliver it. I was very satisfied with them. I asked them for a plan for the kitchen remodel, but I was not happy with that, because the price for the cabinets was very expensive. Their prices were very good. The punctuality was good, and the professionalism was good.

I purchased a Lowes' exclusive dishwasher that was highly recommended by a consumer group. It did not effectively clean the dishes, even on sanitation mode. I had called Lowes several times over a 3-4 month period regarding its deficiencies and Lowes' applicance department would offer suggestions on how to overcome the issues. Finally, I called and indicated that it just was not doing the necessary job. Lowes agreed to replace the dishwasher with another dishwasher of my choice (price could be higher or lower) with my paying any difference and to install it for no additional cost. The dishwasher I purchased was slightly less than the one I purchased and Lowes credited me the difference. The new dishwasher arrived and was installed at the agreed upon time.

I have used Lowes for various projects over the years, including my bedroom flooring and my living/dining/foyer area. Lowes uses subcontractors, but Lowes is responsible for the services provided so you deal with Lowes. Lowes-Pembroke Pines has a very professional staff and Lowes makes good on its guarantee. Lowes' representatives will come to your home to evaluate any complaint regarding installation and will require and have the installer fix the problem and stands by its contract terms. It is well worth the extra cost. Donna and Mike in the Install Department at the Pembroke-Pines/Dykes store are very responsive.
My most recent remodeling involved by kitchen/family room area.
Examples of Lowes' satisfaction guarantee appear below. The contract required for the floor to be level with the adjoining floor and the installer tried to 'back out' of that committment because it had underestimated what was needed to make the floor level, but Lowes required that it be done and at the same price that the installer had initially stated so my contact price did not increase, except for extra mortar. In addition, there were some chipped edges in the tile that was laid and Lowes required the installer to replace the tiles. The granite installer make a mistake with the granite countertop when installing the sink and Lowes required the granite company to replace the entire portion of the granite countertop affected by the marring. In addition, one installer did not clean up appropriately and Lowes required and had it clean up properly. When the plumber could not come as scheduled due to a death within the company, Lowes' reduced the cost of the project by the amount charged by the plumber I had to retain to handle the matter.
The Lowes guarantee is well worth the extra cost. I have neighbors that are still awating doors or other corrections of imperfections in their kitchens, because they chose to utlize a kitchen company that charged less.

They were excellent. They were really good. They delivered quickly. They came on time. The delivery men were professional, friendly and clean. They were really careful. I was concerned because I have brand new wooden floors and I redid my kitchen. They were very good with all the delivery. I had no problems at all. The communication was excellent. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future.

The design process at Lowes was so much better than at Home Depot. We worked with George. He was professional and met with us 3 times until we felt that the design was just right. Very proffesional.
