Prior to the inspection, I was told what to expect and the costs (which was fair since other companies charged extra for each sample taken after a specific number. Pascale charges the same no matter how many samples they have to take. The inspector was there for a few hours, taking the various samples needed in each of the rooms of the house. I was impressed that there were no scare tactics regarding mold. In fact, the report states that mold is normally around us and the mere presence of mold in the home is not necessarily a concern. It depends on the species, the conditions in the home and other factor. I was also impressed that they are an Independent company that did not also do the remediation, which can be a conflict of interest. At my request, she did give me names of a few remediation companies she like, though she encouraged me to get several estimates.
Description of Work: I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and ethics of this environment services company that I used to assess possible mold in my home from water damage due to the hurricane. They checked each of the rooms in my house for mold. The inspector did an outside air sample to get a base line, since there is normally mold in the outside air. Then he did an air sample in each room (apparently you want to make sure that the mold count inside is no greater than the count outside.) He also did surface samples and interstitial (inside the wall) samples where needed (where there was evidence of mold or moisture or water damage.) A surface sample of my A/C coils were also taken. Apparently light fungal growth is fairly common on a/c coils due to the condensation which normally occurs. The sampling is done to make sure that any mold/fungal species that are growing do not produce mycotoxins.
