Josef's Clock & Watch Shop

It went well. There are easy to find, parking is easy, brought in clocks, gave then 50% down and 50% when completed. Clocks were fixed when they said they would be fixed. This is obviously their business. They are not personable or friendly, but very business-oriented. No muss- no fuss! As for the cost of it, I wanted to take these clocks to a proper clock repair person who knew what he or she was doing. I felt comfortable perhaps paying more for that assurance.

Not so good. Called in advance and was told to come in on Saturday at 10am. I showed up at 9:45 and a young gentleman opened the doors and let me in at 9:55. I went to the front counter and a lady met me to ask what I wanted. I explained I need someone to look over my newly purchased antique German mantel clock, and she began to berate and be nasty to me and tell me that I shouldn't be there that they weren't even open yet. Moreover asked me why I was there and that I didn't even buy my clock at their shop. Needless to say I was embarrassed and left. A later spoke to the owner Joseph who I explained what help I needed with the clock and he did not want to take any time to meet my in his shop to discuss my needs at his shop. Very disappointed and although they might have a good reputation, my experience was negative to say the least. I will not be having any further communication with them, although the might be good in clock repair, their customer service skills are the pits and lacking immensely.

I Had a few inexpensive ( cheap ) watches that need to have the Battery replaced. I was at the Mall one day and saw a booth that did watch repair bad move on my part! I paid about $25 to put a battery in a $20 Watch... I mean I like the watch BUT !!!! THEN I drove by Josef's Clock and Watch Shop and figured I would just get a price for watch batteries. Glad I stopped. The place was great. Under $10 for Watch Batteries they come with a 6 month warranty and the people couldn't have been more helpful !! I mean this place also sell's Grandfather Clocks worth thousand's of $$$$ But were very receptive on my needs. I went back with all my watches and had the batteries replaced. I was VERY Happy with the Service and the people that waited on me were Very Professional and Pleasant !! If I had a need for Clock repair or Purchase I wouldn't hesitate to call on Josef's.... It was a pleasure to do business with them and I will be back!

took approximately 10 minutes to change a watch battery. I know I've replaced batteries before but I wanted to save myself time and went to Joseph. $30?!! really? watch battery is a $7 item...maybe. There is no need to mark up that much for 5 minutes worth of work. Counter staff were not even close to friendly.... no 'welcome', nothing. when I balked at the price, she said "do you want us to replace it?" like they were doing ME a favor. I'd be hard pressed to give them repeat business. The watch was an older $500 watch that was not water resistant or waterproof, so pretty straightforward replacement of battery was all the job was.

They quoted me $300.00 to fix the clock. Previously, when the clock was working properly it had a beautiful sound to it. When they brought the clock back to me I noticed the clock did not sound proper. When I called him, he said he replaced the movement, but he did not tell about the work. The Swiss clock was not set, time, properly and was off by ten minutes. When you put the clock on a table, vertical, the time showing 4 O'clock the small hand now fell down to 5 0'clock. The small arm shifts now a hour ahead. The service and workmanship was poor. I payed a high price for the clock to be repaired properly, which it was not and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I recommend Josef wthout reservation. He is expensive. However, you get what you pay for. The old world crafstmanship and technique cannot be beat. Please, he is so much better than any one else out there. If you need proof, I drive from Miami Beach! I am afraid that as we become a "mall society" craftsmen like Josef may pass into memory.

Josef is a true craftsman and an excellent clock and watch technician. He can handle the most delicate and complicated movements and can manufacture his own pieces when needed. He also will visit homes to do do maintenance work or servcing on pieces that are difficult to move.
