..Project was suppose to be completed by 12/9/15. Still on property.  Despite BID, he charged more to lay a 'level' slab. He didn't discuss during BID saying most people don't take BIDS. Paid additional for slab. He poured a 'pitched' slab that is not level. Sightlines all off, doors don't open or close and the are gaps under the doors.  After tear down there was prep work that needed to be done. NOT INCLUDED. Homeowner had to either pay or contract someone to complete.  After porch was finally installed he insisted I pay additional to the flooring guy to 'float' the floor to eliminate door gaps.  Had discussion with him prior that we wanted a level slab to avoid this and paid him to install a level slab.  Roof leaks.  They didn't seal seams under an eve.  He now wants money to install fascia or gutters to seal gap.  Agree to pay for seamless gutters and they installed gutters with cuts hence not seamless, they are not pitched to drain and there are several screws into the drain area compromising the integrity of the gutter.  This man does not write things down, does not honor what he writes in the contract and obviously does not stand by his warranty if the consumer pays for a roof leak.
So here are some of my suggestions to Hammond:
-arrive on time for appts
-show up for appts
-answer phone/empty mailbox so you can receive msgs
-take bidding serious - don't say there's additional cost mid project
because 'most people don't take the BID'
-supervise your jobs
-write down what you agree to do and bill for and stick to that amount
-any prep work should be included in the job, not an additional cost or the
responsibility of the homeowner.
-complete jobs in a timely manner
-pour level slabs. My entire porch slopes after discussing the increased cost
of pouring a new level slab. That would be where the inaccurate BID came
in
-install doors that close and open as discussed and have no gaps
-stay out of other contractors business and just do what you're hired to do
-when the roof leaks there should not be an additional charge to remedy.
What does the one year guarantee cover?
He's suppose to be the professional giving advice on how to install a quality product that's under contract and honor that agreed upon project (including leaks) at no additional cost. Everyday when I go outside I get a knot in my stomach looking at what he did. I have to put shims and levelers under all my furniture and I feel like I'm on a ship that is listing to the side. At this point we are just paying him to get him off the property. Obviously he won't honor the guarantee so will have to find someone else to fix any other mistakes
