They agreed to deliver the next day which was about 3 weeks ago. That was the last I heard from Garmizos. They never delivered the new sod as promised. Now I am stuck with patches of dead sod on the lawn and I will eventually have to resod again. I would not purchase anything from Garmizos again. There are too many other nurseries in the neighborhood that I can deal with. Garmizos does not stand behind the products that they sell.
I never called the company to report this. The disease was slow to progress through each bush and it was well past their "3-week" free replacement warranty period. However, I do want to report this problem. In hindsight, I believe the plants came with the disease and was exacerbated by the way they were planted (poor drainage). I recently had another tree farm nursery plant 7 palm trees. It's interesting to note, each landscaper/nursery estimate I got would only give a 3-4 week free replacement warranty. I want Angie's List members aware of the risks they take when paying someone to put in plants.
I believe the podocarpus bushes developed "root rot" or "fasurium wilt" from my research on the internet. I showed the company person the affected liners (i.e., liners and needles drooping/wilting and entire liners turning brown) in a couple of the large bushes the first couple of weeks after planting. He took pictures and ended up replacing 1 large bush, free of charge. However, he never mentioned what was causing the problem. Unfortunately, the problem progressed slowly from bush-to-bush, even after I cut out the affected liners in the preceding diseased bush. I lost one bush at a time , as the disease kept spreading to the next closest, healthy bush along my south fence. Eventually, only one small bush survived. The 20 small bushes along my west fence were isolated from the south fence bushes, and fortunately, I only lost 5 plants.
I believe a couple of the large plants were delivered with the disease as evident by wilted liners. The disease spread easily due to the heavy watering and poor drainage conditions. I was told to water them often and the could tolerate lots of water. However, I think the cramped condition of the root balls might not have allowed the water to drain properly. The company only guaranteed the plants for 3 weeks after planting. Unfortunately, once the fungus existed in one or two of the original plants, it took time to spread to the next plant. After several months, it was evident none of the large bushes were going to survive. It took about 6 months total for 20 small bushes to die, one-by-one.
I give this company a "D" for quality of plants and an overall rating of "C".
