second time which I feel is now creating AC problems. The room where the ducts were modified does not cool and condensation is damaging the drywall ceiling around one of the vents. I called him to discuss - basically was told that he would come out to look but if it?s not his problem I have to pay for it.
The range hood - it?s a center island gas cook top required by code to be at a certain height. After a few weeks when I started to use the kitchen anyone using the stove are knocking their head on the hood. Its way too low. I was told that it is actually 4" lower than the code requirement and what the enclosed instructions state. I called Billy and told him what was going on. He asked why was I putting my head under the hood and ended with wanting $500.00 to raise it. In addition, the hood fell out of the ceiling a few months later. He did come out to fix it and was apologetic but my GC ended up doing it same day vs waiting until Billy could get back with a crew.
"Sorry for you disappointment. Normally a kitchen renovation and bathroom addition is not considered extensive, Add the new flooring and the new roof and I suppose it could be. Our work was minimal. The real problem here was that due to cost considerations someone on the design team decided to to cut into 30 year old pipe and wrap duct to modify the system rather than replace it. The only reason we had to relocate anything was because the duct was routed over a attic access that was not there yet, and yes we were made aware of it it was no big deal really. It was relocated and could cause no issues with concern to air flow at all.We had no calls that there was any problem with the duct system however there could certainly be. Our customer was advised to replace the entire duct system as well as the outdated equipment. He opted not to follow that advise. As to the hood, picture a galley kitchen with an island planted in the middle of it, there's not much room left around it. It was simply too much kitchen for the space provided. We did tell our customer that removing the hood and raising it would be an extra cost, $500.00 sounds about right I don't really remember, the hoods stainless cover would have to be shortened because it was designed for a higher ceiling installation. That would have taken two men most of a day. The installation did pass inspection by the city and was within the height parameters. I'm sorry we didn't meet his expectations. Had We been contacted regarding any other issues they would have been addressed. We were not. Florida Air Service has been in business for over 30 years we strive to take care of our customers and meet our obligations to them. I believe the problem here is nothing more than the fact that when we were asked to relocate the glass and stainless hood compensation was ask for."
