Perhaps because the store provides items not easily found elsewhere, they can basically help or not help customers whenever they please and still stay in business.  In general, they have bad attitudes and treat customers as if they had something better to do and the customer is only there to bother them.  We'll definitely go online in the future to get things we need rather than to put up with their surliness.  You should too.
