Browns Old Time Clock Shop

FYI, wife who ran the front of the shop passed away, and Pop is too old to continue, so shop is now closed. Used them for over 20 years for my clocks. Wonderful people

They were supposed to move it and set it up and make sure it was working as it was working when they picked it up. They moved it and it wasn't running. They came out to work on it and it still wasn't running. They are now trying to charge us $170 for repairs they did not do. When I contact them about it they lie and claim they didn't do anything.

The repair went well though the mechanism that controls the speed of the clock is stuck on the fastest setting so I cannot adjust it to make sure the clock is running correctly.

They also give me some advice in maintaining it.

WHEN I GOT IT BACK THE GONG DID NOT SOUND RIGHT. I TOOK BACK FOR THEM TO CORRECT IT. WHEN IT WAS RETURNED IT DOES NOT STRIKE THE CORRECT HOUR.

When I left the clock they were not sure how long it would take. It was ready in less than 2 weeks and is working very well so far. I probably should have asked for an estimate.. Not sure what cost is appropriate, but I think it seemed fair.

They are a little slow, but extremely nice and very accommodating. Reasonable prices.

After I bought it, the chiming was off, as described. I took it to the clock repair at the antique mall where I bought it. Despite several attempts, they were unable to effectively repair it. I finally found Brown's. After they repaired it and I got it back home, it still wasn't chiming quite right; I took it back, they worked on it some more, without further charge, and this time it was effective. Oddly, when I got it home, it still had some problems, but after it was home awhile and it "settled in," it worked and has been working altogether well. They are very slow, but they tell you up front what kind of timeline you might expect. In my experience, as long as you're not in a hurry, they do first-rate work.

They have been in business for about four years. The granddaughters have taken the business from the mother and father. It is very low priced. They take care of my cuckoo clock. In terms of price, they are definitely about the same price as everybody else and in some things a little lower. It depends on who waits on me. If Mrs. Amry saw me, sometimes she will not charge me anything. She is a very nice lady and I have known her for years. The quality of work is good. The clock is two hundred years old. In terms of punctuality, they don't get done too fast. I take in a clock and sometimes I have to wait for parts. I would use them again.
