we had a leak in the kitchen. the plumber fixed it but we noticed afterward that it was still leaking. called them and the guy fixed it but charged us again. so much for guarantees. then had a toilet problem. the guy took the tank off to fix the problem then noticed it was leaking so he had to do it again. charged us for the extra time and guess what ? It is still leaking. so beware.

The total experience was truly spot-on. The company technician I worked with was Travis, who was punctual, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He clearly explained to be what he had done and, most important of all, did a top-notch job in replacing my kitchen sink's drainage system. Straight A's on Travis' report card . . . and a hearty Thumbs-up to everyone who works at American Plumbing Inc. ( PS : and, I might add, given the superior quality of the work done, their price was very reasonable. )

They were very prompt and the price was very fair. One plumber quoted $800.00 for project and they charged $200.00. They were on the list and the other wasn't

American Plumbing responded to our call quickly, and cleared a clogged
sewer pipe. Returning later, and using a remote camera, they diagnosed
the cause as being tree roots entering at a bad connection from house's
new pvc pipe to the old cast iron pipe going to the street. We opted to
replace all the cast iron pipe, rather than just fix the bad connection
and jetting the old, now almost closed iron pipe.
After the estimate was agreed upon, they encountered massive amounts of tree roots, and decided
to dig out about 40' of trench to go around the offending tree's roots. They
slaved in unbearable heat for many days, digging through roots and a previously
unknown rock layer to complete the job. When the city inspector demanded
to see some clean fill on site to cover the pipe to protect it from
damage (even when there was plenty there, under all the rocks that had
been dug out near the bottom of the trench), they came right out with a
truck of clean sand so we could pass inspection. They even covered the
sand pile with plastic.
During all of this, they never demanded more
payment, and stuck to the original estimate. Everyone was always polite
and professional. I would highly recommend American Plumbing!

BEWARE!  Awful!  In every way!
1.  They were told explicitly not to begin the job without a permit.  They were asked at scheduling and again when they arrived about the permit.  They said they had it.  They did not.
2.  Their work was not done to code or standard practice so the Contractor had to have them return and correct multiple items one what was a very basic straightforward job (air chambers, shut-off valves installed before the cabinets, poor water pressure settings, a bad valve, didn't complete the task list).
3.  Billed for replacing a toilet flange that was only a year old without approval or even photo evidence of it being necessary.
4.  The technician used the owner supplied materials, so they could not be returned, and then tossed them and billed for parts, all without communicating with the owner.
5.  The final invoice was for more than double the original quote, even though no unknown issues or additions had occurred.

We are extremely pleased with the prompt professional service we recieved from Mike at American Plunbing.
Mike snaked the bathroom pipe vent from the roof and replaced the water heater regulator in about an hour for a very reasonable hourly rate. Mike arrived at our door in about 15 minutes, no emergency charge, just a very fair and pleasant experience.
American Plumbing is the only plumbing company we will be using from now on.

I came home from a trip to find water over a good portion of the master bathroom floor.  After the mop up, I was able to determine the source, but no clue as to how to repair it.  Based on the Angie's List reviews,I phoned American Plumbing.  I needed a same-day appointment, and had braced myself for an exorbitant fee to be quoted when I phoned.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that same day or not, they charge a flat hourly rate plus any parts, which I found reasonable.  The schedulers were quite clear with me as to a rough time window for service and that I would receive a 30 minute phone call notice from the repairman before arriving (they were even kind enough to let me know that I didn't need to sit by the phone and that I had time to take care of some errands).  The repairman arrived within the scheduled window (actually about 10 minutes early).  He came in, assessed the situation, and quickly determined the source of the leak.  Off to his truck to come back with the proper supplies, and in about 30 minutes, everything was working properly and no more leak.  He was courteous, professional, and quick.  The entire experience from initial contact to signing off on the work order and paying left me feeling like I was dealing with true professionals who value their work, respect their customers, and  provide excellent service.  I would not hesitate to hire them again, and in fact, will, when we replace the water heater.

The plumber came and answered every question I had. Explained everything that had to be done and why, Quality of
the work was good an efficient. He checked for leaks before he left. He did not give any impression that he was taking his time.
He was scheduled to arrive at the worksite at 12:00 noon. He contacted me around 11:25 am. We both arrived at the worksite at the same time, which was 11:50 am. I explained to him what needed to be done and he started work. I want to note that I look at the watch often to personally understand what will be charged per labor. The reason I gave a B for price because when he wrote up the bill and answered my questions concerning it, he explained that he started to charge me when he called me and that I had to consider traffic. Honestly, I do not deal with contractor much so I do not know the practice on how contractors charge. Therefore, I did not argue that point. I do want to mention this point for other members to know this in advanced.  Since he started to charge me his rate when he made the call, this led to him charging me an extra half hour. If the argument was that he was early and had to wait for me, then that would be false since we both arrived at the same time. Also, we were scheduled for 12 noon, to charge before that time would be unfair because I was not expecting him at that time.
This brings the questions; if he was stuck in traffic do I pay for it? Also, if he decides to come early and wait at my front door for 2 hours, do I pay for that also?
Other the cost concern, the quality of the work is top notch.
To answer the question if I would use the provider in the future? Possibly, however I selected "No" because if their practice is to charge when the call is made, then I am sure I can find someone else that will start to charge when they start to perform their work.

My first call to American Plumbing was for a clogged sewer line on a duplex. The tenants were getting sewage in their tubs. It was an ugly situation. American came out quickly and resolved the problem using a snake from the outside. This cured the problem and I was happy with the service. The charge was $186.00. The cause of the problem was roots. The plumber said that he needed to cut away a broken piece of old cast iron pipe and replace it. He came back a week later and did so. Again no issue and I was happy with the service. This cost $276.46.
What I did not know was that when the plumber performed the last repair he parked in a spot that was not a parking spot. In doing so the he ran over the water meter which is located in the swale. His heavy truck broke the cement box containing the meter and sheared the PVC pipe connecting the meter to my property.  The leak created by this went on for a week or two until it flooded the property around it and the tenant noticed it and called it in. The city came over and determined that the problem was on the property owners side of the meter so I had to hire a plumber. My tenant said that the American Plumbing truck was parked on the meter and was likely the cause of the problem.
When I called American I was gruffly rebuffed. I was told that I had to take it up with the plumber who allegedly caused the problem. The Plumber called me pretty quickly but was again gruff with denial. I told him the tenant was with out water and to just please fix the problem. He went to the house to do so but needed a back flow valve as it was not on the truck. HE left the job for an hour to get the part. As a result I was charged  21/2  hours for mending a PVC pipe and installing a back flow valve. This is a job that I could have done in about twenty minutes had I had the materials at hand. The total bill was $63 in materials, $49 of which was the back flow valve, and $207 for 21/2 hrs of labor for a total of $274.28 with tax.
At the time that American Plumbing came back to repair the damaged pipe I also asked them to repair a leaky valve in the shower of one of the rental units. They rebuildt the valve for $199.60. In total I spent $936.34 with them. Out of that my dispute was really about the labor excess for the meter repair. The broken box? the broken pipe? I did not see them do it with my own eyes. The way they handled the problem was not in the interest of keeping customers.
So... All-in-all the service was timley, the quality of the service was good, Their fairness is suspect, and their customer relations nonexistent. I paid the bill but would not use or recommend them because if there is a problem they are all take and no give.
