Ace Fencing Company is a well established, well known and very reputable fencing company, which usually means you get what you pay for. Estimates from not so well known firms were in the ball park give or take several hundred dollars. The project was started when expected, completed as promised and finished on schedule. The techs were very professional and did a good job of cleaning up when they were finished. My only disappointment with the process was that I was forced to obtain my own building permit, solely because I happen to live in the Town of North Lauderdale, a town in which the Ace Fence company's operations manager and the city commissioners of North Lauderdale, have an on going feud over permits. Luckily for all else, this is the only town where this problem exist for now...

This company was extremely busy with hurricane repairs so the lead time was close to 2 months, which after shopping around, I found to be pretty standard. I rated this company a C in responsiveness because I was told that because in live in North Lauderdale, I would have to pull my own permit, which after contracting at top dollar, I did not appreciate doing, all because the company's project manager has a personal vendetta with the town commissioners relating to a previous job. (Get over it already, we're talking kindergarten here.) Other wise no complaints whatsoever....fence turned out beautiful....145 feet of fence plus 2 self closing gates completed in 3 days, with all of the old fence and rubbish carted away.
Response from Ace Fence Company
"Thank you Mr. [Member Name Removed]. It is the only city we will not pull permits in. Please believe we would very much prefer to. They make it impossible. Extreme delays. After the permit is applied for, they alter their requirements as they go along so it is not possible to have certainty and work has to be redone. They are disrespectful and abuse their authority. If we tried to get the permits, these delays would be blamed on us by our customers. Luckily, they do not seem to do these things to their residents, so that is the reason for our solution."

They came when they said they would.  The gave me an estimate on the spot.  They completed the permitting and paperwork efficiently.  When there was a needed change for the permit they called me right away so the changes could be made.  The installation was completed smoothly and they cleaned up after themselves.  Really a great company to do business with.  Thank-you.

DO NOT USE! Very difficult to work with. They do not tell you when they are coming to install the fence and if you are not home, they install it anyway. Then they are inflexible about minor adjustments and wanted to charge me $250 to come back and finish. Very, very poorly managed company.

You can do better than Ace Fence  The installation team did well with tricky situations and the quality of materials is good.  The sales person writing up my order wasn't very knowledgeable and customer service is terrible.  All was fine on the fence except the gate.  I specified to have the gate tied in with the main fence line but instead they built it as a stand alone, on it's own posts, not tied into the fence.  There's a huge gap now between the gate and fence and it's not very secure.  When I contacted customer service, they argued with me and said it was not possible to do the gate the way I wanted due to the "realities of physics".  They just wanted to be right in an arguement.  I have since contacted another company come out and take a look at the gate.  They said it could be done and it will now cost me another $1200 to redo the gate.  I'm very disappointed in the outcome.  If you are looking for a fencing company, you can do better than Ace Fence.

In regards to Ace Fence's rebutal, I did ask for the gate to be tied into the fence.  I talked about it in detail with the sales person and I witnessed him measuring it for position and trying to make the math work.  Further, the gate is also shown to be tied into the fence on the contract drawing and on the permit paper work sent to the City of Fort Lauderdale.  There was nothing unusual about my expectations, the gate should have been tied into the fence.  So read the rebutal from Ace Fence carefully, see how the writer calls his customer a liar even though he is not the sales person I spoke to at the time the contract was written.  Ace Fence is rude, unprofessional and their $825 resolution would make a bigger mess of my situation.  Is this who you want building your fence?

I'm having a well rated Angie's List company fix this mess.  I wish I had been a member of Angie's list earlier, I wouldn't have picked Ace Fence!  You shouldn't either, you can do better than Ace Fence.
Response from Ace Fence Company
"Ace Fence has been in business at the same location since 1961 and has an A+ Better Business Bureau rating. Neither is by accident. The sales person that our customer claims is not very knowledgeable has worked at the company for some 28 years and spent his entire life in the fence industry. He is beyond merely knowledgeable. It is just not true that this customer specified to have the gate tied in with the main fence. The contract does not state anything pertaining to this and the fence was built in a regular way. Sometimes a customer gets exactly what was contracted for but not what he was expecting and that is apparently what has happened here. In turn, this has caused him to make statements to put the company in a bad light undeservedly. His gap is not huge and the post is just as secure as the rest of the fence. We did not just want to be right in the argument but rather we were right and were not arguing at all but rather explaining. Without getting too technical, there are two different things that are intermingled as one is our customer's complaint. The statement that we are up against the laws of physics was made to him in the context of his request to switch the gate swing so as to require the hinges to be on the post closest to the fence line. This is the same one he would like to incorporate into the fence line. In either case, this could simply not be done as there is not enough space to attach the hinges to that post. The contract as also clear on which post the gate would hinge from but he suggested at first that was not where he wanted it to hinge. The post that he wants to incorporate into the fence can however be done if it used as the latch post. The problem with doing this after the fact is that he has limited space within his property and a custom gate to be made and it would cause his now uniform 6' long sections to have to be chopped up to make some smaller ones. It is one reason the usual way is to place the post not in the fence line but next to it. It would be expensive to do this but we could and would for $825 as opposed to the quote he has received for $1200. We would not consider doing it without charge as we have complied with the contract. Our contract requires us to build to industry standards. We are not averse to those who instead want what they want as long as it can be done and the customer is willing to pay for it."

Drive gate has two sharp jagged edge pipes sticking out of ground that could cause accidents to people or damage to vehicles. Drive gate metal frames do not match. Walk gate has 1 inch gap between gate and post. There are Spaces between boards on board on board fence. Split boards. Some of the old posts were not removed but just broken off at ground level. Two sprinkler pipes were damaged but not repaired. I used this company 15 years ago and I was pleased with their work at that time. The owner totally rejected my concerns in my e-mails to him. Sub contractors seemed not to care about the quality of their work. Owner refused to come out and look at the job.

I told them it was to keep my dog in. They even measured my dog's head to make sure he couldn't get through. The first time I put him outside he got through. The company was not willing to work with me on this problem. They said they're not in the dog business, they're in the fence business. They also dug up the old cement and threw it behind my house and killed my bushes. There were spots at the bottom of the fence that we had to add sod to because the dog was getting through.
I would never ever use this company again.
Response from Ace Fence Company
"The technical answer is in large letters on our, and every other fence company’s, contract where it states that we make no warranty of fitness of the product for any particular purpose. All fence companies are in the fence business and not the dog business. We doubt any others would have taken the trouble to measure our customer’s dog’s head as we did though. In fact, the dog is not getting out through the pickets of the aluminum fence we built exactly to the contract we entered into. Neither the fence nor the workmanship was defective in any way. The product our customer chose was an aluminum fence of a type that is not rackable. That is, it can’t go up and down with ground elevation changes but must be stair stepped where the ground goes up or down. It was stated on the contract that stair stepping would be necessary to build this job. If the ground is particularly sloped, even doing this will not eliminate all gaps. Although the customer states we were not willing to work with her on this problem, it was we who gave her the simple solution of adding sod into the gaps to build up the ground in light of the inability of the fence to go down further. That was some time ago and we have not heard from her further until this complaint. We can only assume she has a determined dog that is perhaps digging under her fence. That is something out of our control. We can certainly understand our customer’s frustration but we think it is misplaced. We have been in business since 1961 because we have thousands of satisfied customers. Our BBB rating is A. This is the only complaint we have received on Angie's List and we thank them for the opportunity to respond."

ordered and received a replacement gate for an existing fence. Gate was okay.  product was fine, attitude was poor. Asked owner for an 2 extra standard sized screws which  probably cost him 2 cents at best.  He said NO.  What a bad attitude.  I will look for another fence company before I do business with this company again.

We had a bad experience with Ace Fence Co and the owner and will never use them again....and i had done other jobs with them over a 20+ year period. seems like its a new owner since the last job.

there were problems with the materials and the workmanship and the owner refused to properly address the situation, forcing us to ultimately hire another company to finish the job correctly.

they do sloppy workmanship and a very bad customer service attitude

i would recommend another fence company or do it yourself

Called Ace and scheduled someone to come out for a free estimate. Brad Kuhl came out on time, was knowledgeable, professional and very helpful in planning for our needs. We had a black vinyl coated chain link fence with 3 gates installed. About 100 feet of fence. They did the installation in 1 day and it looks great. We had one issue where they left too much of a gap between our fence and a neighbors but when I called them back they responded quickly and fixed the problem. Everyone that came to our home were very professional and courteous. I am happy with the work they did and the whole experience.

They were bought out by a new owner. They do not have customer service anymore and just care about their company. The new owner does not want to help his customers. He is always in a mad mood and never has anything nice to say. Every time I spoke to the owner he would insult me. They put up a good fence but that is not the case. They put off the job week after week. I would not hire them again if they were the only fencing company in the area. They should be avoided.

THE FENCE WAS DESTROYED FROM THE HURRICANE. THEY SHOWED UP ON THE DAY THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY WORKED VERY HARD TO GET THE WORK FINISHED. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FENCING COMPANY.
