Tropicool Services (David Satelle) performance on this project was TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY.
Specifically:
1. Failed first building inspection due to failure to install THREE air return vents listed in permitted plans. Owner had to make modifications as Mr. Satelle refused to address issue.
2. Instead of delivering two SEER 18 HVAC units as paid for and specified, delivered two SEER 16 units that were two years old. Manufacturing date reduced Owners warranty from five years to three years.
3. Neither HVAC unit installed worked. Mr. Satelle made one attempt to correct problem, but failed to restore units to proper operation. Continually failed to return as promised to ensure proper operation of both HVAC units. He also failed repeatedly to return calls from General Contractor and Owner about problems.
4. Mr. Satelle eventually left town without fixing HVAC units or returning the overpayment for less expensive units he installed, despite his repeated assurances he would. He has failed to respond to official notifications that would prevent legal action. Reports from other industry contractors, indicate we were not the only customers hurt by his unethical business practices. He has re-located and re-started his business in Eustis, FL.
5. After nearly eight months since installation, we are still trying to correct problems. Follow on HVAC contractor found all work unsatisfactory and an embarrassment to the trade. Unit was incorrectly wired, poorly mounted, connected and all accessible duct work will have to be redone to achieve proper air flow. Yet he found problems and got units working in less than a couple of hours.
Tropicool Services / Mr. Satelle should not be hired for any job, due to his incompetent technical skills and dishonest business conduct. His license should be revoked. You will not get what you pay for and he will abandon the job after payment. He epitomizes the fraudulent construction contractor that brought Angie's List into being.
Additionally the RUUD company takes no responsibilty for the conduct of the independent contractors they list on their web site. Further they will not warranty newly installed machinery two years after manufacture. Most companies we have dealt with have started their warranties at the date of our delayed final closing.

Great service, great guy

He sized the units before installing them. They have excellent service and did everything he said he would do. He did everything in a timely manner and I would recommend him to anyone. I left him alone in the house to do the work and everything was fine when I came back.
