Jason Collins Painting

I asked a lot of questions during bid, and got all the right answers. Mainly, I wanted to know if I was hiring him or subcontractors. I was told he is on site unless he has another bid. His helper was the one that did 90% of the work. His helper was amazing. Jason was gone a lot . He came late, left early, and many, many times said he would be there and didn't come. What should have taken one or two weeks took over a month.
Our contract specified a brand and level of quality paint and on the job we discovered he was using lesser quality paint, but attempted to disguise it in a better brand reused 5 gallon bucket.  I was furious when I saw that!
Our contract stated a deposit at the start and the balance due upon completion.  He asked for more money regularly. 
Just save yourself a lot of frustration... DO NOT HIRE.

The work at the moment is incomplete. He seemed honest, he was over and done in a hurry. He agreed that we needed to change something later, and he got back to change. His quality of work is good.

Jason Collins was very professional. He always responded promptly and told me when he would be on the job or if he was going to be late. We got quotes from one other recommended painter and both were about the same price.  We went with Jason because he seemed to really want the job and we felt he may provide better overall service. He did a lot of extra's like pressure washing a sidewalk and stone steps in the pergola area. We also needed to repair trim and replace a door and he arranged for that to be done at a very reasonable price. Plus he made sure the trim was made of a composite material so it wouldn't rot in the future.  Although we had the house painted about 10 years ago, it was not the professional paint job Jason and his crew did.  A lot of the areas of the stucco needed to be caulked and repaired.  It turns out the barn was never caulked previously.  Jason, along with one of his assistants, Ron (who also has a lot of experience painting), were very helpful working with us to select the paint colors.  We ended up with 3 different paint colors, one for the main body of the house, one for the soffits, gutter and garage door and one for the trim.  Ron is an excellent "trim" painter.  We had new plaster ceilings put on both our front and back porch and Ron did all the trim and was very much a perfectionist in making sure the edges were straight. Jason made sure we were happy with the complete job before he left.  He even painted a holder for a hose I had to match the house and caulked an area on our back porch that was causing a problem on the newly painted gutter. 

Although I see ads on Angies List for painting a house for $1600, there is no way they could provide the quality of paint, the caulking and other things that Jason and his crew did.  I felt the price was very fair for all the work they did.  I would recommend Jason Collins Painting to others.

From the first time I met Jason, I felt at ease with him and his attention to the details needed to get the job done right.  Jason continued to work with my wife and I during the whole process of cleaning the exterior of the house, prepping the walls and floors of the lanai and front entrance and finally painting all the surfaces.  He also sealed and caulked every nook and cranny that you could find.  The end result is a house that not only looks very, very new and feels very secure from any issues that mother nature can through our way.  Jason's crew were fantastic.  This was a group of men that were not only focused on the job at hand, but were always cordial to both y wife and I, but more important, they would take the time to ask questions or listen to questions we had, to ensure that the final results were outstanding.  Jason also provides a guarantee of his work for 5 years from any defect in his work.  This is an added benefit to already fabulous job.  This is a entrepreneur that takes his work very serious and has his co-workers focus on the right things, the customers.  I will always be happy with my decision to use Jason and I know you would feel that way, too.

Jason and Lawrence are meticulous and very detailed oriented.  The prep job was outstanding.  They taped film and paper all over the windows and roof edge.  They sprayed on the sealant but hand rolled all of the other paint.  The result was a deep, thorough covering with a shell-like seal.  Jason demonstrated the difference in permeability between our house and the house next door.  Our paint completely repelled water, while the neighbor's sucked it in.  Since they had some paint left, they even gave the sunniest east wall an extra coat of paint at no charge.  They also painted our patio floors at no charge which was not in the contract. The house looks brand new.  The attention to detail was exceptional. It was a very hot week in August and we had some stormy afternoon rain delays but they labored through it professionally and with good spirit.
